I have a video, edited in Media Studio, that's about 2 hours long. MF3 with options set to Dual Layer reports that about 10% of the recording will be on the second layer of the DVD.
It burns "successfully" but when playing back it gets about ten minutes from the end and resets to the beginning of the video. It seems like it's about the place where it would have to switch to the second layer.
I've tried three players including the original Sony drive that burned the disk. I think my question is whether or not my system really burned anything to the second layer. How can I tell?

You shouldn't need the burning engine update unless tech support
advises it. That update can have adverse effects on all your ulead products
on the machine.
The Dual-layer update for MF3 contains the correct burning modules.
I would look at the "Properties" of the dvd and see if it's larger than
4.30gigs. That should tell you if the data was burnt to the 2nd layer.
You can also try copying the last VOB file from the dvd to your harddisk
and play it using ulead dvd player. That should be the 2nd layer portiion
of the dvd.
Hope this helps,

Solved!!!!
This turned out to be a firmware problem. I updated to new firmware when I got the drive two weeks ago, before I did any burning then had all the difficulties detailed above.
Today, I went back to the Sony support site and found a new firmware file for my drive. Installed it, burned the .iso file created by this project and it's playing through to the end now!
