I am on Windows 7 home and keep getting reminded that upgrade to windows 10 is available, but my VSx7 and my whole computer is running faultlessly as I am so I think to myself why should I upgrade to 10 and risk having some of the problems that some of you guys are reporting, what's the advantages of 10 what are the bennefits, if they are small I don't feel inclined to risk it.
Those of you who are now on Windows 10 what are your great changes now to what you had before.

Re: Win 10 Compatabilty with Videostudio
Hi Alan
From the Windows Update Panel you should be able to Hide Updates, that should stop the annoying reminders.
First you may have to uninstall update KB3035583.
For me the problem I believe was my older pc, because of those I got I did not fully test the new set up, but feel if I did not have the freezes I would have remained with 10.
I did not feel there were any issues running Video Studio.
I had also installed a new SSD, improved speed of my computer was great, but part Windows 10 part the new SSD
If it isn’t broke don’t fix it, but then again a new experience may be worth a look.

Thank you Trevor,
I think your last statement is probably right "If it ain't broke don't fix it", Certainly at the moment everything is running smoothly so maybe I should just hold fire and do as you suggest and stop the reminders popping up.
It would still be interesting to hear of any big benefits windows 10 has brought to people.

Re: Win 10 Compatabilty with Videostudio
Hi Alan,
If I were you I would wait at least another 6 months before upgrading to Win 10, let them resolve all the current bugs embedded in it.
My other computer has Win 10 and because of an illicit program that managed to install itself it was necessary to try a system restore back to an earlier date, bad move, after the restore had completed, Critical error, Start Menu and Cortana not working making Win 10 completely inoperable, it took 2 days to finally manage a successful reinstall of the OS, so at this stage my desktop will stay with Win 7
As Trevor stated ,"if it ain't broke don't fix it"

Thank you Robert,
Yes, I think I will stay put for the time being, I've no real reason for upgrading to 10 so I'll not bother, from all that is said I'm happy to stay as I am

Re: Win 10 Compatabilty with Videostudio
Thanks for this post, i have trouble compatibility too with windows 10 but only in working session in the timeline, i'll explain:
I have the VS X7 ultimate, and i went from upgrade to win 7 to 10.
It works but slowly during manual editing of a single picture or insert single effect, when i selected a single picture to edit the project in the timeline the program stop for 3-5 second, after this stop work again and then the same when i do another selection.
The final editing works fine, only in the timeline edit i have this waiting stops and it's frustrating because a complex project require too many extra time to work on it if it not solvable.
Multi core is fully activated and i have 6 core at 3,8 ghz,
Maybe is not fully compatible with windows 10 or there is a solution to solve this?
Thanks

Re: Win 10 Compatabilty with Videostudio
Corel produced an update for VSX8 to make it compatible with win 10. Although as a beta tester for 10 I found it worked fine when I used it on pre-release versions, Corel found a few problems that i just could not replicate.
I think you may have to upgrade to X8.5 for it to work properly., you can try it for free, but it is a bit restricted in what it can do and output, but you should get an idea of how it will work on your system

Re: Win 10 Compatabilty with Videostudio
Problems with windows 10 . . . which is really a reprise of every windows OS release since Moses-played y'know. The gartner group (world's largest IT research and consulting company) has long maintained/advised that you never upgrade to a new windows, until the first service pack is released.
If you have upgraded to win 10 and have problems running VS try, for compatibility purposes, running the VS application in the compatibility mode for the new OS and choose the most recent OS like win7 in the list.
Beyond that, there are any number of published trial reports on new windows releases as they occur. Those for Vista and to a lesser extent Win8 were describing a disaster in the making. And so it proved to be: both were times when MS was really pushing a new hardware-based software experience (security, and touchscreens). They do have a history of getting that wrong. Re windows 10, I have read several reports that basically say if you are using windows 7, there's nothing in win10 that makes an upgrade attractive, and a good bit (like background reporting) that is intrusive. The end of product support for an OS does not mean it won't continue to run, just that routine updates are no longer published. There's one VS user on these boards who purportedly continues to run VS on XP3 because he likes it.
And the various remarks in this thread make all those hoary old chestnuts still very true.
Further, Microsoft has long championed "software as a service". Meaning, you pay for every little bit as you use it. The 'cloud' and good internet links are an essential part of that. There are also many reports by industry insiders that win10 will be the last windows release - any further variants will be updates - which goes to the service part rather neatly. Expect to pay when that happens.

Re: Win 10 Compatabilty with Videostudio
Thanks for the reply, i'll try compatibility mode and if nothing change i'll try the VS 8.5 trial to see if it works smoothly, then i post my result.
In addiction to this i say that i have a program for developing picture standard edition and in win 7 worked well, in win 10 i have the same trouble of VS 7, i already downloaded the new pro version and it works smoothly; i think i'ts the same with the Vs.
