Videostudio Installation problems

Post by pelleper »

I downloaded the trial version of Corel VideoStudio Pro X8. After test period I wasn't sure about if I wanted the program or not (I don't remember if I did uninstall or just left it there).

A while after that I once again downloaded the trial version I was surprised that was possible). After that test period I removed the program. But soon after that I however decided to buy the program (!) so I paid and downloaded it. But now it was no longer possible to download or to install. I get no fault messages or similar, it just downloads and then disappears without installing.

I cleaned everything called Corel on the computer (through the support found and was given some suggestions for clearing the temporary internet files and so on). I've also tried to run special uninstaller and another similar program that claims to clean the registry but nothing seems to help.

I felt it as the support was quite uninterested, I can imagine that they saw me as a pirate (!) So finally I requested a refund.

But I do want the program! It is the only program I found that in a simple way allows you to hide / replace moving objects. Why can not I install the program? Where do I find the files Corel has placed in my computer to stop me from downloading the program?

Regards Peter

Hello and welcome

There is no restriction on you downloading and installing the full version after you have used the trial version

Now you say you downloaded the full version - what did you download ? and that will depend on what you purchased

If you purchased the pro version you should have downloaded two files - three if you also bought the burner plug-in

If you purchased the pro Ultimate version you should have downloaded three files - or four if you also bought the burner plug-in.

When you download files to your computer they will go to wherever you specified - if you did not specify they go by default to C/Downloads have you looked there ?

Assuming you have the full Pro ultimate and burner you should have.

VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_1Main.exe with a file size of 1.385 Gb
VideoStudioX8_2Contents.exe with a file size of 863 Mb
VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe with a file size of 1.602 Gb
VideoStudioX8_blu-ray.exe with a file size of 4.6 Mb

These need to be installed (in the order listed) by either double clicking on them - or right clicking and choosing "Run" - or better "Run as administrator"

installation does not self start after download if that is what you have been expecting

Hello and thanks for your answer.
I downloaded the paid version of Videostudio Pro X8. I did try both of my hard drives ,C/ and D/. I downloaded three files. After download I started the installation by clicking the installation vis the "blue, downloaded files" (Firefox). I checked the box "...automatically start the program after installation...". But the program did not start and did not install. I also went straight to the folder (C/) and started the installation by clicking the installation file but same result (though I did not get the option to "automatically start the program after the installation".

So the installation files did go to the folder I choose but the program didn't install. When I checked the "Remove programs" there was no Corel program. I think that in some way Corel has put something on my hard drive (-S) that makes even the full, paid version to get treated as a test version. And a test version usually is only possible to install once (?).

Just to be clear, I don't any longer got the full version installation files since I got a refund. I'm prepared and up for buying the program again but I'm worried that I don't get a refund if it doesn't work.
