The version comparison chart provided by Corel says the following with regards to X8 versus previous versions:
"Enhanced! Gradients – Preview gradient changes on your image as you adjust them in Material Properties."
Has anyone been able to figure out how to do that preview? I'm confused, because I don't see any difference in the Materials Palette or Gradient Materials Properties between X8 and X7 and don't have a clue how you can do a preview as you make changes to the gradient in Gradient Materials Properties dialogue.
EDIT: I just checked out page 420 of the user guide pdf. It says:
"To edit a gradient applied to a vector object and view changes in real-time"
Note that is says "vector object", which is NOT what it says in the pdf which gives version comparisons. So I can only assume that the comparisons chart is misleading by using the word "image" instead of "vector object". I haven't bothered trying it on a vector object because I usually am applying gradients with varying opacity to actual raster images.

Correct, it should be vector object on the comparison chart.

Kinda limits the usefulness of this enhancement unless you can convert a complete raster image to a vector object.LeviFiction wrote:Correct, it should be vector object on the comparison chart.

Re: X8 - Preview gradient changes on image??
Well, even then it wouldn't really be much of an enhancement as you'd only fill the vector object with the gradient itself. Thus removing the colors and tones of the image. This is, in fact, purely a graphics enhancement. It can potentially be used with blend modes and layer effects to produce interesting results on an image but is not meant for image manipulation. It's meant for the graphics side.
