Corel PhotoImpact X3 -vs- Nova PhotoImpact Pro 13

Post by Mykull »

Referencing Boxed Retail Version’s

Any Differences in all the included software?
Before buying one or the other I would like to know if there is any difference between these two “boxed versions”. I am fairly certain that the base program PhotoImpact is identical with both products. But the extra software that is included with each one I am not sure if that is the same. While doing my DD the Nova product is very clear about all the bonus software that comes with their boxed version. The Corel Product is not as clear.

Any Differences in Support – current and future?
Any updates currently available via support for either one?

Wiki says no difference in the base program PhotoImpact

Nova is only a reseller not a developer of PI. You can purchase PI for a very low price these days but remember, there is no Corel support for this programme any more. They sell it but that's all.

Thanks Trueblue - Yeah no support but I like the program. I am familiar with it and it gets the job done well.

OK So Now I Can Answer My Own Question

So I bought both. X3 and Pro 13.

X3 does not come with any bonus software. There are add-ons which consist of a lot of content only – no additional programs. Standalone GIF Animator discontinued with this version. You can still create GIF’s inside the program but you got to know how.

Noava Pro 13 however does come with some very nice bonus software’s like FaceFilter Studio, FantaMorph, MemoriesON TV, and RealDraw Pro. However I like the stand alone GIF Animator that comes with PI-12 and you can and I have installed it separately alongside PI Pro 13. The Pro 13 also comes with and offers to install during setup “MediaOne”. I evaluated MediaOne and IMO it’s just something I do not need and uninstalled it. The rest of the bonus software’s included with Pro 13 looks pretty neat and could be fun and useful.

Technically 13 and X3 are the same. Nova may distribute a few extras but no matter what, PIX3 is a software that is in decline I'm sorry to say. The transition to PSPX8 maybe worth thinking about.
