Paintshop Pro X8 Not for Windows XP!

Post by chepstowboy1953 »

Ok, so Corel has now released X8....only for me to find out that it is not meant for Windows XP....
Yes, I know there are people who have a lot to say about why still use XP but simple reply is that there is software that I have no choice than to use and that software will never work or be released for Windows 8.1 or 10.
I have used all other versions of Paint Shop Pro up till now but now being able to use under XP has been taken away from me.

You might be able to consider installing a second operating system (Windows 10 is now available) and making your system a dual boot system so that you can boot into XP or Win 10 depending on the software you use. Another alternative is to simply purchase another computer system with Win 10 for use with newer software. Of course, these options depend on whether or not your present system can handle a dual boot option and the newer software, and whether the options are financially viable for you.

FWIW, one of my computers - and 'old; Quad core 6600 -- now has Windows 10 and Windows 7 set up in a dual boot way. It seems to work just fine so I imagine that XP/Win 10 would work just as well. Has anyone actually tried getting X8 to work under XP?

Dual boot mode is interesting, but for me I don't want to re-do my system right not. I'm running Windows Vista, and while it's not listed by Corel as supported for PSP X8, I suppose I could download a trial version and see if it will install. The issues mentioned about XP and for me Vista, is what kind of installer Corel is using.
I have gotten some programs not listed for older operating systems to install and run, but some not. What makes me wonder though is that I know for sure Perfect Effects standalone won't install on Vista, and as it's included with X8 Ultimate it may not install on XP or Vista.

PSP x8 is not compatible with Vista.
Corel has abandoned Vista users!!!

I just posted much more here in another thread about Vista -
http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 37#p316237

The suggestion to get another computer or another operating system is just a bit too hard to contemplate really.... considering all your pics are on your computer be it PC or laptop.
The cost is prohibitive be it for a new computer or operating system.
Corel have a lot to answer for here.
Tell the truth....but gently.

Phil.
