I've done some looking around and know that people are having some issues with audio not playing correctly and a lot of them seem to lead to a codec not installed correctly. I'm not sure if anyone can lead me in the correct direction what I'm missing. We are recording with a blackmagic hyperdeck shuttle to prores 422 format. When I open the file I get video but no audio (windows 10 and VideoStudio x8 ultimate w/ both service packs installed). I can play fine in quicktime player. When I open the properties there is no audio codec listed the field is just blank.
I'd like to get it working with prores just because it aggravates me it doesn't. However knowing that I'm editing on windows would I be better off with either one of the DNxHD (QuickTime or MXF) formats to record to?

Re: Prores 422 no audio
Do you see Apple ProRes 422 or DNxHD among the formats listed which Video Studio can handle? If not, that is your answer. These are professional-end formats, while VS is a consumer-end editor. Do you have -- or have access to Blackmagic Fusion editing software? FinalCut Pro? I seem to recall that Blackmagic released a free version of Fusion 7 several months ago... I downloaded it at the time but have never used it... While Fusion is principally a compositing program, it is capable of producing finished videos...
Quicktime .mov format using some other codec (e.g. H.264) would be what I would try if you really want to or have to use VS, but you would probably need QT Pro to convert the ProRes to that format... Not sure about other consumer level video converter programs as they may not be able to deal with ProRes either.

According to support prores 422 is supported by v8.

Re: Prores 422 no audio
Well I don't know who in support said that, but they are wrong. I asked the head of Corel's development team for Video Studio, who confirmed my understanding that neither proRes 422 nor DNxHD are supported by X8 nor any previous version...
