Convert TMP to AVI
I am trying to open an AVI file but it has 0 KB. However, the same file, but with the TMP extension has 6,329 KB, but VideoStudio does not recognize the file. Can I convert the TMP file back to the AVI file so that VideoStudio will open it? I lost the AVI file that contained the data.

Re: Convert TMP to AVI
A tmp file is basically a temporary file and is usually deleted after a program closes. The only thing you could try is to simply change the tmp to avi. If that doesn't work then you are out of luck. There is nothing that can convert the tmp to anything else.
Where did you get the original avi file? What do you mean you lost the avi file?

Re: Convert TMP to AVI
Long story. I have an old Gateway computer that I kept so I could download my old Canon Video Recorder video on the hard drive with other videos. Way back when, I did not understand how the Video Studio stored files and I think I deleted the file, uvs071102-002.AVI. So now when I try to load any of the video clips uvs071102-003.AVI, uvs071102-004.AVI, -005, -006, etc. Video Studio wants me to open uvs071102-002.AVI, and when I try to select the empty file, or any of those uvs071102... tmp files, I get the message Unable to open file.... File reading error. So the missing -002.AVI file won't let me open the other files that I can see have lots of data, for example 1,157,642 KB, 187,972 KB, 289,153 KB, 779,695 KB, etc. I would like to be able to open the 7 files that have data, but the missing -002 file is what Video Studio wants to open. Is there a work-around? I also have a file uvuvs071118-002.tmp with the same file size, 6,329 KB. I did try to rename the temp file, but when I open it with Corel Video Studio, nothing appears, just a black screen, or I get the file reading error after I try to link it.
I hope that makes sense.
