Hello, I was rendering a project with eight .vsp files using VS X4 Pro. Seven (7) of the .vsp files were rendered OK but one of them kept "crashing". The first time an error message appeared, saying "Frame 45 was not readable". I checked the story board and I looked for a thumbnail that has no. 45 because I had assumed that those numbers on the thumbnails were the frame numbers. When I ran the .vsp file, VS played the entire project with no problem. After I deleted thumbnail 45, upon rendering again, the same message appeared "Frame 45 not readable". The story board now has another thumbnail 45. Apparently, the frame # is not the number of the thumbnail.
My question, where could I find the non-readable frame so that I could delete that?
Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you. Bimbing

Re: Frame not readable
Follow up on my post of "Frame xxx not readable". I had search the Forum using the phrase within quotes but did not find any results. When I Googled it later, I did find several similar error of "not readable frames". When I click any of them, lo and behold it points to topics already posted in the Forum. So, I now have an idea how to find that frame. Hopefully, after making the correction suggested by you all, the rendering will be completed.
Thanks, Bimbing

Re: Frame not readable
The frame number is not the same thing as the panel number.
The frame number depends on the frame per second you have chosen or that the video has (the frame rate). The duration of a video is given as hours:minutes:seconds.frames (hh:mm:ss.ff). For a frame rate (fps) of 30, the frame count would go from 1 to 30. a 1 minute video would then have 60x30frames (number of seconds in the video times the frame rate). If the bad frame is #45, it would then occur at 00:00:01.15 on the time scale.
It would be much better to render each video to a separate video file and then add those videos to the timeline. Doing it that way would more easily help you identify problem areas in each vsp.
If you add all the videos on the timeline and you render your project, then a problem in the last video would not be found until all previous vsps have been rendered. A considerable waste of time
p.s. It seems I was typing while you were "googling" for the answer

Re: Frame not readable
Hi Canuck, Thank you for the explanation. I thought I was able to find that "bad frame #45". Apparently, after replacing the video, and rendered the project, the same error appeared "Frame 45 unreadable"canuck wrote:The frame number is not the same thing as the panel number.

I hope you would help me find that frame. Here is the specifics of my .vsp file:
1) There are 198 thumbnails; 2) Total time is 25:56:26 (according to the timeline)
The very first thumbnail is VS timer "18.wmv" which is 6:005 sec of duration (the timer is in VS Samples Video).
So, I have been replacing this VS timer because if the bad frame is at 00:00:01:15 than it must be this VS timer. I even rendered this 18.wmv without any problems, So it could not be the bad file......
Finally, after a tedious process of elimination I was able to find the video with the bad frame that resulted in "Frame 45 not readable" error.
It was in thumbnail no. 67 in the Story Board View, which is at 8:34:18 in the Timeline view. Apparently, that Frame 45 does not refer to frame 45 of the entire project of 198 video thumbnails but to the Frame 45 of an individual thumbnail somewhere within the project. After removing this thumbnail, the Create Video file completed successfully.
Thank you, Bimbing
