Corel VideoStudio X8 Mercalli bug

Why do you guys always seem to answer a question with a question. The answer to his question about the Mercalli fx and the blue x is that it is a compatibly issue with Mercalli and win 10. The Corel developers are working on a fix. How do I know this well I worked with a support specialist for two hours and while he took control of my computer he was able to narrow the problem to Video Studio and reported the issue to the technical team. No word back yet as this just happened last week. Hope this helped.

Oops. The compatible issue is between video studio v8.5 and win 10 causing Mercalli to place a blue X on video clips

We ask questions to get to the bottom of the problem so that hopefully we can give meaningful answers instead of just any old rubbish - the blue X is usually a sign that the Mercalli plug in is not registered so it is important to clarify that point first - we don't know for sure it is a compatibility issue - so far only one person has complained of a problem with Mercalli and many of the members here are happily running X8 and X8.5 on Windows 10 so if it is compatibility it does not apply to everyone.

we know people are having problems with the add-ins on the new X8.5 update due to licencing problems due to an oversight at Corel but the OP has not mentioned updating so I assume he still has X8 - when we hear of any fix from Corel we will let people know

Corel have produced a hotfix for people with X8.5 but I do not know if it will even work with X8 and one solution for the OP *may* be to update to X8.5 first (it's free) and then run the hotfix

Thanks for the hotfix, installed it and it shows version 18.5.0.25. Didn't have time to test it yet.
