Re: Red RAW photos
More than likely the camera(s) raw image format isn't supported by PSP X6, and that's why they appear red.
You can check- http://howto.corel.com/en/c/Supported_R ... hop_Pro_X6
Common practice by photo software companies to stop updating supported raw file formats when a new version is released. Check supported raw file formats for X7 or the upcoming X8.
The only Corel software that has and is still frequently updating supported cameras is Aftershot Pro 2- they have a bit of a different business model.
Also, RawTherapee, a superb free RAW editing program stays fairly up to date- http://rawtherapee.com/downloads

Re: Red RAW photos
I tried PSP X7, had the same problem. So my camera (760D) is not supported by X6 and X7.
Still strange that at first all my RAW photo's looked normal and turned red one by one. Think i'll try RAW Therapy

Re: Red RAW photos
Had the same problem when using new camera Nikon d750. The D3100 I had was no problem in raw with PSP X6 but the D750 raw files were not covered or were they going to be. Downloaded PSP X7 and all the service packs as the original did not work and it was supported. The same happens with Picassa when the raw files are downloaded. they do not appear right until the are converted to jpeg. YOu would think that in this day and age manufacturers would agree a particular format and all stick to it.

Re: Red RAW photos
I agree about the issue of raw camera formats being different, not just from camera company to company, but withing models of the same company. So, updating program codecs to support new cameras is always something I look for in software. Unfortunately, Picasa hasn't updated theirs in years.
Perhaps your new camera is supported in PSP X8- you'd have to check.
Alternatives for your raw images are to use the software that came with your camera, or use a free on like RawTherapee. You can then export your edited raw image as a 16 bit tiff file to PSP for final editing, and the 16 bit tiff will retain much more information and provide a wider range for editing than a jpeg.

Re: Red RAW photos
Sorry rondo, I should have made it clearer that after downloading the last service pack the raw images were at last able to be viewed and worked on on PSP X7. However if I do anything like rotate the picture before it has been through the raw lab, then it turns red and there is nothing I can do with it. The Nikon software will handle it well but it kind of defeats the object when you are used to the software and like the results to have to work with other software to get to the next stage. I only bought PSP X6 just before 7 came out. I bought 7 to get the pictures from the new camera and now there is 8.

Re: Red RAW photos
Try to convert some of your raw NEF files to DNG. This may solve the problem you are experiencing. There are free converters available for download or you can use Lightroom for this.

Re: Red RAW photos
It's one of those things that we are never happy with. Want the camera manufacturers to keep improving their files then complain when software companies can't keep up. So if everyone does nothing everything will work. But dare just one try to 'upgrade' and the dominos start to fall.
Then we complain that we need a new patch. Darn it then we have to download a new bunch of files. Just as we are getting in the groove along comes a new camera and it all starts over again! (Manufacturers change their file format because us consumers 'demand' improvement).
I guess the key is having companies such as Corel at least bring out regular updates even it doesn't suite our own schedule.

Re: Red RAW photos
I wasn't aware you couldn't rotate the raw image in the raw developer module as I never tried to do it. PSP's raw module is very basic anyway and I seldom use it, preferring to use a dedicated raw processor like DxO Optics Pro or Aftershot Pro (which will rotate raw images just fine), and then export those developed images as 16 bit tiff's into PSP. Both of these programs are are worthwhile if you do a lot of raw photos, along with the free RawTherapee.
The limitation in PSP or in Windows explorer of not being able to rotate a raw image is in the nature of the image- it can't be changed permanently or overwritten as other formats like jpeg can. So, raw processing programs that do rotate only do so while the image is open in the program and do not alter the source image at all- your rotations and other edits appear when the edited raw source image is then saved to another format like jped or tiff or dng. In PSP, it's raw module will make certain edits to the raw image and save that data in memory without actually modifying the raw file, but I assume rotation is too much for the limited processing available int the PSP raw module. So, do your other edits in the raw module, then when done click edit, which should take you into the editing workspace to rotate. When done in the editing workspace, save your file as a jpeg or tiff.
