Corel PSP X7 running very sluggish...suggestions?

Post by packardj_76 »

Hi Folks,

I'm not a power user but have been using PSP for various purposes for a several years. Have had X7 installed since January and just got around to using it today. Was using the clone brush and eraser tool today and noticed they were running WAY slower than my previous version of PSP. I have a computer that should have no trouble handling graphics or the program (Windows 8.1, core i7, 12 GB RAM). When I checked my resource manager my computer was chugging along fine, so it seemed that it was a problem contained within X7. Is there anything I can try or a setting that I need to change? It was the equivalent of typing 10 words and only seeing the first three appear while I waited for the rest. Thanks for any suggestions you can offer.

Same thing happens to me. It becomes an issue when you are using a large sized tool. eg my files are 6000x4000. If I use a brush/tool greater than 100-150 I get a significant slow down. Smaller brush more stokes is often quicker.

The only thing I can think of is to check and see if the "smart edge"box is ticked. Sometimes that will slow things down.
