I'd really like to see a built in panoramic stitcher
Yes one can use MS ICE and it works. I tend to use Zoner.
But lots of lesser programs include this feature, come on Corel don't make me switch out to another program to make stitching easy.
I know you can do it manually but I'd rather not.

PLEASE fix an issue that has been a problem with PSP since the Jasc days! When using Selections>Modify>Expand on a rectangular selection the expanded selection develops rounded corners rather than square corners. The same issue exists when using Selections>Select Selection Borders and choosing to do an Outside border, but it's even worse because the rounded corners are jagged.

Suz Shook had a solution to that, but I can't spot it on her website:

http://suzsplace.com/tips&tricks/vi-tip ... nchors.htm

I usually just go over the selection with the rectangular selection tool, then the corners are squared :-)

Thanks for replying, Joelle. The link to the specific workaround proposed by Suz is here:

http://suzsplace.com/tips&tricks/vi-tips161180.htm#163

Unfortunately the solutions have already been considered and discussed with LeviFiction because I need to be able to produce a specific result in a script. Suz's second solution doesn't work with my script because it only works if the selection is a rectangle with the sides parallel to the image and the image is in a straight horizontal/vertical position.

The first solution (resizing) is the one I'm considering but haven't had the time yet to figure out how to make it work in a script that achieves all that I want the script to achieve. But I appreciate you looking into it for me.

Since then I found this in my PSP Everything folder.
In case anyone else finds this of use, here is a simple version:
squared_selection_corners.jpg
Have no idea how to use it in a script.
Scripting Queen Suz doesn't appear here very often nowadays

Yes, that's Suz's solution #2. It's actually easy to use in a script but, as I mentioned in my previous post, doesn't work on anything but horizontally aligned images. However, when I get back from my New Years trip to Calgary I do plan to make a boundscript to use that info and make it a toolbar button that will expand a selection and then give it square corners in one step. That's what Corel should have tried to achieve with their Expand Selection option but neither Jasc nor Corel seems to have been aware of the issue or willing to make the simple effort it would take to fix it. It's beyond comprehension that this issue has continued to exist for all these years!

EDIT: Actually, why wait. I just did it and will post it in the scripting sub-group in case anyone wants it.

I have just registered this account purely to request one feature in PSP9...

Restore the zoom to centre!

If there's a section of an image I want to work on, I will put my mouse over it and roll the scroll wheel, but I don't want the image to just get larger focused under the pointer, I want it to move to the middle of the screen so I don't have to keep fiddling around with scroll bars, or grabbing the image and dragging it around. This feature was present in most versions of PSP but for some unfathomable reason was removed from version 6 upwards. It's so simple, just add it as a option that can be toggled on or off in the program settings, that way you'll keep everyone happy.

The Clone Tool:

Add a preview of the section that will be added. PS has this feature and it is really nice. As I am cloning, I can actually see what the newly cloned area will look like. It makes it a lot easier to align and position the new clone material.

I am using X5 so perhaps this has already been added.

Add channel pallet support. I'd like to be able to view/select/adjust channels without running split channel.
Add math functions to manipulate masks/selections/layers.
Add saved mask library pallet.
Add a duplicate layer button to pallet
Add ability to navigate layers with keys or mouse scroll shortcut, when mouse is over layer pallet
Add option to have ruler zero point selected or variable, corner, mid image
Add digital reading for ruler values (pixel/inches), not just x-y location
Increase icon, fonts for 4k displays

I would like to see the return to a previous version when using the Background Eraser.
In the good old days the user would use the Spacebar to Erase at 100%, then it was changed to using Backspace, which is not un-doable, but annoying.
Why it was ever changed (can't remember in which version) I have no idea.
PLEASE change it back!
:-)

The ability to save the entire Exif information would be a blessing to any serious photographer.

-The layer styles is very, very poor. New features would be needed. There are many more configuration options should.
- Custom script icons
- selectable background color, tubes, brush, browser pictures background - the white tubes, white png's are not visible on the white background.
- brush thumbnails is very little, especially as it has a maximum size of 3000 pixels some thumbnail indistinct image of what it is.
- If you choose a brush, and later another one, then once at the beginning of the brush palette,
sometimes the brush used last. That's really bad, it has to scroll over and over again, and if there are countless brushes, it's quite annoying.
- Brush variance, I think that it should be here in a preset. If you want to create brush presets, and many also like the same brush variants,
you'll need to again and again setting everything if exactly the same attributes also like to use a brush in the other.
-If you draw a preset shape the "convert selected layers to raster" icon is not active. You must click on the layer in the layer palette, then only becomes active.
The old versions, was active immediately, when draw the preset shape. Those who start the PSP was not sure he realizes this. He only sees an inactive icon.
-If I draw a brush and selects all and then apply the "float regular selection"the brush shades much darker. However, if you save to mask something- shades much lighter.

Sorry for the grammatical errors, I hope you understand! :D

my wishes are:
- remove the spam/advertising which was added with SP 8.1
- make 'creating' the main focus of PSP, not 'photo editing'
- better and more vector tools
- more creative and realistic effects, some of the existing effects could be improved massively
- generator for normal maps
- texture and material generators
- a friendly support (i sent in a list of bugs and suggestions, but got a very rude reply)

But my biggest hope is, that Corel will give up the development of PSP and shares the code with the community. Since Corel took over PSP from Jasc the situation gets worse update by update, because Corel focuses on photo editing.

PSP is my daily bread since 1992, i used it professionally and private, nowadays for texturing virtual worlds and websites... ok, sometimes i edit my photos with it :-)

I just posted in the thread about issues with the SP1 patch. In my X8 with SP1 the only advert I see is a thumbnail image at the bottom of the Paint brush and Clone brush dialogues, and if you don't click on it you won't get the rest of the advert itself. I don't get ANY ad popups, updater popups, etc. You can see more ads if you want to click on the More stuff in the learning dialogue that opens with X8 but (a) you don't have to click that link, and (b) you can even stop that learning dialogue from opening at all.
Ravelli wrote: - make 'creating' the main focus of PSP, not 'photo editing'
better and more vector tools
If "creating" and not "photo editing" is what you want then you should not have chosen PSP. Check out this Corel link for Paintshop Pro::

http://www.paintshoppro.com/en/products ... /ultimate/

The banner says "PaintShop Pro X8 Ultimate Photo editor" (emphasis mine). It goes on to say "The ultimate photo editor". So I'm at a loss as to why you would expect Paintshop Pro to focus on anything except photo editing. That's its main, advertised purpose, with some fairly good creating abilities added (that's the vector stuff you also want more and better of). If you want to "create", you need their program specifically created for that purpose - Corel Draw. It's at this link:

http://www.coreldraw.com/ca/

Simple. Just choose the correct tool for your preferred purpose - and Corel has that tool available. :-)
Ravelli wrote:But my biggest hope is, that Corel will give up the development of PSP and shares the code with the community. Since Corel took over PSP from Jasc the situation gets worse update by update, because Corel focuses on photo editing.
So did Jasc. In fact, Jasc's last verion (9.04) did not have all of the "creating" (or vector/adjustment) abilities present in Corel's X7, although they weren't bad at all at the time for a program the purpose of which was still photo editing. (I was a long time user of Jasc's versions, by the way, for hobby and professional purposes.)

So it seems that what you are asking for is for Corel to change PSP from the purpose for which it was intended from the Jasc days to the present into another purpose for which Corel already has a program available for those who want graphic creation to be the main goal rather than photo editing. Sorry, but I don't see the logic of that for Corel.

JoeB
