Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
It would be great (IMHO) is some functions "converted/worked" when you click on an apply button. For example, I was prepping some photos for the net and using JPEG optimizer. I would change the setting from 4-5......meaning to go to about 10, and the program stopped to apply setting 5. It would be better for me, if I could make the seting the way I want them and then apply them..... the optimizer must have stopped and done this photo 2-3 times by the time I changed the settings from 1 to 10.
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
Hi,
I've just recently come back to X7 and realised how good it is. Although a few things still remain after checking out the X8 demo to make it better in my opinion.
UI layout is too large on smaller displays.
1) "Manage, Adjust, Edit" buttons seem to take a whole lot of vertical space. I noticed in X8 that this has been reduced by a few pixels, but it's just a shame that we can't have smaller buttons? - Paintshop Pro isn't for tablets, it's for desktops and laptops.
2) "Menus", why is the vertical spacing between the words in the menus so large? On a laptop screen they go all the way to the bottom of the screen. Could we have them more tightly packed please? I think the font is 1 pt too small too, it effects the anti-aliasing on the font.
3) "Tabbed palettes" would be a great addition to tuck things away.
4) "Tools Palette Spacing", it would be great to see it a little narrower? there's a lot of wasted space here.
A few extras...
5) "Curves", It would it be possible to display the red, green and blue together at the same time? It would be easier to see visually.
6) "Selections", coming from a Photoshop background I'd love to get rid of the CTRL + D to un-select a selection, or at least have the choice to switch it in the preferences to mouse click or that.
7) Constraint selection with CTRL or SHIFT key in X or Y direction when moving a selected item. Only just realised the only way is to nudge with the cursor, should really be able to use the mouse, even Gimp has had this for many years.
Below is a mock-up of how I think a tighter UI could look:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/p1ip8xx43ldu6 ... 9.png?dl=0
Edit: Changed the image, I had more time to squeeze more out of the smaller screen - lots more space and not cramped! I added the blue button as the larger orange ones are too distracting against the image your working on.
Thanks for your time, love the software!
Jay.

You change it yourself in the Customize menu (Keyboard).JayH wrote: 6) "Selections", coming from a Photoshop background I'd love to get rid of the CTRL + D to un-select a selection, or at least have the choice to switch it in the preferences to mouse click or that.

Jean-Luc, That's nice, care to share how you add Left Mouse Button click? PSP appears to only accept keyboard inputs for customising - unless there's a secret mouse control shortcut I'm unaware of.

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
I have set up an extra toolbar that I call "Most Used". It is a floating toolbar and can be moved around the screen to where it does not interfere.

As you can see the Select None now becomes just a mouse click.
The tools I most use are:
Levels, Brightness and Contrast, Red/Green/Blue, Hue/Saturation/Lightness
Select None, Invert Selection, Unsharp Mask, Negative Image

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
hartpaul,
Thanks for the workaround, although I don't find the concept is fluid enough - it's also just more clutter. I guess from using all the other editors over the years, Photoshop, Illustrator, Max, Maya, Blender, Gimp, Krita, Paint.net (the list of software that use this method is extensive). I'd be used to de-selecting just by clicking the screen. A leopard can change it's spots, at least this one, but I just don't feel it's intuitive enough. So hopefully the devs will see fit to add this common feature, even as a choice - I know I'm not the only one

Missing object properties:
1) Starting position of "bounding box" X1, Y1 in pixels
2) End position of "bounding box" X2, Y2 in pixels or width and height W, H in pixels
all with posibility edit values manualy in toolbar.
During resize of object show current size W, H in pixels and starting position of X1, Y1.

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
To add Lazy Nezumi Pro [http://lazynezumi.com/home] into Corel PaintShop Pro X9 Ultimate package as bonus.
Better support. To make it work automatically--"out of box" with PaintShop Pro canvas without any settings.

ICON and GIF require a litle specific UI that PaintShop Pro does not have yet.TroyTheTech wrote: - icon output/support (I mean the larger sizes, 256x256 or 512x512 + with Alpha, not just the 'rename a BMP' small icons, for Windows)

For me the best choice is set of tools IconUtils 5 - http://www.aha-soft.com/iconutils/
Also you can check IcoFX - http://www.icofx.ro/index.html
or free Greenfish Icon Editor Pro - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia ... -Pro.shtml

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
No offense intended to the hard work of the mods and admins, but I'd wish no more wishlist for the next version on day one of a new PSP release.
Issuing a wishlist for the next release the day a new release took place feels like trying to stomp on the expectations and excitement of all the users that bought the newly released version.
All wishes, bug fixes and improvements should be part of a service pack for the new current version. It is better to optimize a hard "r&d-ed" product and make happy all users (which in return will increase the user community => revenue) rather than leaving all the users disappointingly wishing and not willing to purchase the next release. All this looks like a clockwork release schedule.
Please try to understand what I'm trying to say. I tried to say it with the best words under the best mood.
Healthy discussion of this subject is greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

That's a thought. Perhaps there should be a topic called "Patch Wishlist for PSPX8" (and etc. for successive versions).TripleHeinz wrote:No offense intended to the hard work of the mods and admins, but I'd wish no more wishlist for the next version on day one of a new PSP release.
