Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
Improvements to vector tools:
1) Dragging a line to adjust the curve
2) Use of hotkeys to change node type while drawing curves
3) Spiral pre-set shape tool
4) Boolean tools - Union, Intersect, Difference, etc.
5) Basic SVG import/export. At this point just shapes and colors. Nothing advanced.
6) Stroke to path conversion. Makes a new object based on the stroke of the selected object.
7) Subscript and Superscript settings for text.
Improvements to Editing Tools:
1) Draw the straighten tool's line. Having to move a preset line takes more effort than necessary.
2) Add ability to auto select Midtones, Highlights, Shadows.
3) Preview window for Arithmetic command. Having to accept the change then start over when it's not quite what I want is very annoying.
4) Same with User Defined Filter
5) Add average as a blur command.
6) Auto map selected color into curves dialog. Not just black and white points.
7) Selection intersection.
Layer Improvements:
1) Addition of standard blend modes: Addition, Subtraction, Division, etc. (both supports PSD imports and brings PSP up to snuff)
2) Have a pass-through mode for group layers. Pass-through lets you organize layers in groups but the group doesn't act like it's in a group for rendering purposes. When grouping two layers that use blend modes limits the effects of the blend mode to the layers in the group only. Pass-through allows you to group those layers without ruining the effect of the blend mode. If it's turned on.
Improvements to Color selection:
1) Hotkeys to fix the position of the Hue or Saturation on the color wheel while dragging for more accurate color selections.
2) An automatic default first palette for swatches called "User"
3) Allow the use of SHIFT + CLICK to add a swatch to the last palette saved on the list. Decreases palette creation.
4) Button to add all complementary colors into the same palette in one go. Currently takes 3 clicks per swatch to add a primary and each complementary color to the palette.
UI Palette improvements:
1) return the ability to dock any palette to any side of the screen. Or at the very least let me dock the histogram palette to the bottom.

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
Let's add my own:
- the option to display all the icons with one button (that was in older versions, not sure why it was removed)
- a way to "extract" the settings from an adjustment layer and apply it to other similar layers
- picture tubes that are directional AND sequential at the same time
- the ability to choose our own icons for binding scripts. For a graphic program, this should be obvious.
- better "distortion" tools specifically a way to reshape something (like with the Pick tool) without getting an automatic perspective. But also a way to possibly fit something inside another shape (like from circle to square, or vice versa)
- get the option to have either the text box or the text on the project BY DEFAULT. (maybe in the program preference)
- get the option to have either the new or the old material properties window.
- Inner Bevels and Tile size have a maximum width of 32 pixels, which is very limiting if one is working on a larger element (ex: website buttons)
- the ability to rotate tiles in the Sculpture and Texture effects (it is possible to rotate the tiles and textures in the Material Properties window, so why not in those other commands)
- the option to display all the icons with one button (that was in older versions, not sure why it was removed)
- a way to "extract" the settings from an adjustment layer and apply it to other similar layers

I wish that all those "features" shall come as Update 1 for X8. (...perhaps a little later as Update 2 for X8)
Why to wait another year??

Corel should try to release a Mac version of PSP X9 as well.

No chance though, it would mean that the program would have to be completely re-coded. Can't see that ever happening.

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
I would like to see a change in the UI. As it stands, I keep a copy of PSP 7 around, mainly for this:
I can adjust the edges of a Crop boundary by stating the exact numbers the margin is to be reduced. I get that by double-clicking on the Crop tool. Then I click on the Perform Crop button, and I view my work. If I am not satisfied, I do a ctrl-Z, re-specify the margins and try again. When I am satisfied, I'm done. Easy, economical of my time.
In PSP x6, x7 and x8, I must use a work-around: I change mode to Selection. Then I specify the selection's margins by clicking on Custom Selection. Then I can specify the margins. Then I change modes back to Crop, and select the Crop to Selection button. I then view my work. If I am not satisfied, I do a ctrl-Z, and change modes back to Selection . . . You can see why I keep PSP-7 around.
The x8 method in essence makes me detour and costs me time. In PSP-7 I could specify margins of both Selection and Crop. In PSP x8 I can only specify margins in Selection. Annoying to be discommoded.

Had PS3, PSP3; Installed: PSP-4.12, 5.03, 6.02, 7.04 (liked it a lot & used it for years), 8.00, XI, x4.3.0.3, x6.2.0.20, x7.4.0.11, x8.3.0.13, x9.2.0.7; now using PSPx10 (PSP 2018; version 20.2.0.1 x64) on Win 10-64 b2004.

Thanks for the link!
Very interesting.
I am very happy to see that the Corel team use PSP (in one of the previous betas (some time ago) the submitted images were edited in Photoshop!)

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
Improve the Vector tools. Adding incredibly basic but necessary vector operations like MERGE and SUBTRACT (Minus front/Minus back). And proper SVG support.
Not really sure how many times we have to ask for this, but it's 2015 and we shouldn't still need to be asking for this.
Also have my +1 to everything LeviFiction requested.

Re: Wish List for PaintShop Pro version X9
Word-wrap for text fields, as an option for Text tool.
Justify text.
There's a very bad kerning bug.
Network, as in other computers, is missing from Navigation Quick Search.
Resize dialogue could have presets.
'Yes to all' option in batch progress overwrite prompt would be nice.
When dragging an image from Windows Explorer to PSP, PSP does not take focus. Thus one must click PSP to start working on the image.
'Show all' option under View | Toolbars and Palettes would be great for people with enough screen-space.
Poster printing.
Panorama stitching.
Combine images. (Like in having two images, and just paste one to the left, right, top or bottom of the other.)
Dialogues take focus, when there's no need to. For instance Preferences. Here, if we cannot get it focus-free, at least drop in an Apply button. Having to open dialog, make changes, close it, look at changes, open it again, change again then close again is too much work.
All the lovely icons are gone from the menus. I want them back please.
There are no presets in Resize Canvas palette.
ASCII table.
Guide presets. Such as image cut in half, fourth, eight, x, y, x + y.
'Own scripts' could be a category under Batch Process | Script.
Batch process dialogue is not resizable.
PPI of images changes from for instance 300 to 299.999 almost always.
Option to draw circle etc. from center.
Functions for symmetrical drawing. For instance a clock. Mirror drawing effect and such.
Export PDF.
'Use all layers' option for selection tool, to move content on all unlocked layers.
Preserve text as editable when exporting to Photo Shop, if possible.
Export as separate layers.
Import vector as vector.
Hide other layers.
Save layer.
Preferences | Help doesn't work. Neither button or F1.
Preferences doesn't have Apply button.
EDIT: This list is now updated.

Have Corel added the option to resize a canvas as a percentage in X8? e.g. resize to 200% current width?
If not, add to the wishlist for X9..

Epi: No. You'd think a graphics application could resize an image to, say half size, without the user having to open also a calculator, but nope. Basics please, Corel, code the basics.
