[ASP 2.2.2] Portrait images has wrong orientation on export

In the latest upgrade, all my images shot in portrait orientation is shown with the correct orientation in the software (both thumbnails and edit screen), but every image shot in portrait is exported as landscape. Never seen that problem before the latest upgrade...

Not funny when exporting 1200+ images from the last session, where almost half where shot as portrait. Now I have to turn each of those 90 degrees in the Windows Viewer...

[EDIT 2015-10-04] This problem was introduced in the 2.2.1.64 update as far as I have seen. I never had this problem/bug in earlier versions. It's still not fixed in the latest 2.2.2 version. All vertical shot images is shown correctly on screen in ASP, both thumbnails and the main image. After export they are all turned 90 degrees...

It doesn't matter if I export new images from my Canon 7D, 5D MKII or my old files on the Minolta 7D... The orientation on the images shot in portrait format has the wrong orientation on export.

ARGH! Just updated today... (2.2.2.70 - 64bit)
I survived the 64-bit-no-plugin-race, I could live with waiting for the old plugins being changed to the new format. BUT PORTRAIT being EXPORTED as LANDSCAPE is a killer/workstoper/whatever.
The only way to get the right orientation is not to resize the pictures and use JPEG-safe-Export - but that is useless for my workflow. Shrinking to any size will remove the correct orientation - though the exif seems to show the original orientation ...
E.g. neither Windows 10 Explorer nor XnviewMP will show the images with the correct orientation.

So COREL - if you can fix this with a bugfix within this month I will stay with you - otherwise I will do the change (DOT)

To me this happens even if I don's shrink or compress anything in the output. Portrait images end up as landscape whatever I try...

Unfortunately, we cannot reproduce the same issue here (using the latest update 2.3.0.99) version. Though I am not the mentioned user I can tell that the latest version did not solve the problem.

To reproduce it:
-Open a raw being taken in portrait mode
-Develop it as JPEG in 1920x1200 (using scaling of longest part)
-Open the result in After Shot: orientation will be fine
BUT
-Use Windows (10) Explorer and navigate to the target directory:
-et voila wrong orientation in thumbnails
-open the picture in any viewer (Xnview MP for example)
=> wrong orientation!!!

Yes the bug/issue was (introduced in 2.2.X) and it's still unresolved in the latest 2.3.0.99 update. The bug is just as I have described it above, but I will also report this to Corel Support when I have some more time tomorrow...

I can confirm this. Embedding XMP will raise this bug! And the default installation does not seem to activate embedding of XMP. So they are not able/willing to confirm this bug. Sadly this worked for older versions of aftershot...
After opening a ticket @ corel they told me not to be able to reproduce it and that my viewers are faulty. Maybe they need another hint ...

Well it seems to require several things. You may try

1. XMP include
2. JPG export
3. SCALING on longest/shortest side to e.g. 1920x1080

and to be honest I used PEF.

My workaround now is to disable XMP export. Not the best solution regarding the storage of meta data but the easiest way to use. I really wonder what is the reason for this bug showing and not showing. Maybe it depends on the upgrade path or windows vesion etc. Yesterday I installed the current AfterShotPro Setup on a fresh Windows 10 system (32bit), enabled xmp and exported a scaled jpg. Et voila the problem raised there also. Sad thing.
BTW: By default XMP export seems to be disabled. That may be the reason for not showing up so often.
PS: Today I played again with the settings and different viewers and got three different results: JPG correct, JPG with correct preview but wrong orientation of the full image and JPG with wrong preview and wrong full image. The second variant was seen in Xnview MP only though the first and third one in Windows Explorer.

PS: Tested it with a NEF I got from http://www.photographyblog.com/reviews/ ... le_images/ -> Same problem.

In the meantime I had a look at a tool called ExifTool. It says that jpegs processed by the old version do not have a value for Orientation in the XMP data part. Images processed by the new version of ASP do have!
So that might be the difference why the pictures are displayed with the wrong orientation if NOT opened in ASP itself but with windows default apps instead.

I also discovered this and reported it in a ticket about a month ago. Corel confirmed it and I was informed that it had been submitted to engineering. No timetable on a fix. Interestingly, they could not repro on Win 7, but Win10 did it.
