X8 Ultimate and CreativeCollection Content Missing

Post by Gold Acres »

Has anyone actually gotten their creative content? I have downloaded and installed twice and still it's not there.

My email after purchase said:
Corel_CreativeCollection_PSPX8.exe: Get more creative tools, including dozens of brushes, textures and 100+ royalty-free backgrounds.

But I didn't get any additional content.

I only have the standard round and square brushes. I got no new patterns, no preset shapes, no Picture Frames or Picture Tubes either.

Have you checked in This PC > Documents > Corel PaintShop Pro > 18.0? That's where mine appear to be.

Ken that is where the items you add through the program go. They should be in c:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X8\Corel_?? where that ?? equals a number based on what you are trying to load. But it's not there. For most of those files there are exactly 10 items. The same ten that were there before I installed the CreativeCollection.

Have you checked to make sure the files weren't loaded into an incorrect folder? Have you checked the standard Paint Shop Pro Programs Folder to see if they were added there instead? Since those folders aren't mapped they wouldn't show up if the installer put them there instead.

Also have you done a search for recently added files on your harddrive?

Essentially the big question is, does it not install anything? Or does it not install them in the right place?

As far as I can see after a long search, it doesn't install anything. I opened a Support Ticket, and have now gotten a response saying that the Engineers are looking into fixing the links so that they go to something which actually contains the content we are supposed to get.

You might want to check your link to Creative Collection again. I have only just downloaded my X8 package this morning, and on checking where the Creative Collection was supposed to go (C:\ProgramData\Corel\Corel PaintShop Pro X8\) I found that a new Ultimate sub-folder had been created and was full -- though all the content appears to date from 2012. But it seems Corel might now have fixed what was missing before.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thanks, I will give that a try. My new problem is that X8 doesn't recognize that I have registered. When I fill in my email and click Register it takes forever and finally goes to a blank page. I think I must have registered about 20 times by now. But I never get to the Downloads page.

Have you checked in your Corel account if the registration has gone through?

I uninstalled & reinstalled my X5 this week to see if I could fix a problem and am having the same issue.

Even though I'm registered and everything, it wouldn't let me in to re-download all the stuff I had from the creative collection. Bummer cause I use a lot of it.

This is why it is so important that when you download anything it is saved.......just in case.
X5 is now considered 'old'....... you must have opted to remove all customisation when uninstalling!

There are a number of Ultimate X8 folders containing data for X8. Just check through Corel's folders to see the new content.

This seems to be a continuing saga and series of questions about where the content is loaded or saved .
My experience with PSP X8. Purchased the program and was given an email and page with links to download the content.
The files were:
PSPX8_PF.exe
AfterShot2_32bit.exe
AfterShot2_64bit.exe
Perfect_Effects_9.5.0_Basic_PSPX8.exe
Athentech_PerfectlyClear_PSPX8.exe
Corel_CreativeCollection_PSPX8.exe

I installed PSP X8 and registered and was then given another page of links and downloaded :
pspx8-corel-kpt.exe
PSPX8_ScriptGuide.exe
pspx8-corel_creativecontent.exe
I always place these in a separate folder and make a copy of that and place in a number of backup locations. Normal backup procedure we should all follow if we value what we have purchased.

I then checked file locations for brushes (File > Preferences > File Locations) and Restricted Scripts and noted those locations.
I then checked the locations and recorded the number of folders and total number of files in the main folder for Brushes, Gradients Patterns etc.
I then Installed the creative Content and repeated the count and then installed the Creative Collection and did the final count.
The following table shows the numbers of folders and number of files and the increases with each installation.
This was done in Windows 7 but should be similar for Windows 8.1. I do not have a windows 10 machine as yet.

What is an example of a specific brush or gradient or shape that is in the Creative Collection? That will tell me a lot about whether it is installed on my computer or not. TIA
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

I did not record the names of the brushes etc just the total numbers of them
So basic install gives you 10 brushes,
Creative Content increases that to 65 and Creative Collection increases it to 179 brushes.
The Creative Collection also places a new folder in the Pictures Library folder called Ultimate X8 Backgrounds which contains a total of 122 files in 5 folders labelled Designs, Flowers etc.

These were the same files brushes etc that were installed with PSP X4 so there has been no real change over that time.
