We're all biased here - we think Videostudio is best - that is why we use it
Videostudio allows full customisation of your DVD menus - example
or maybe

Not one of the programs is flawless.
(the fact that you still using pinnacle studio ultimate 12.1 is indication that you are tough guy)

Re: videostudio x8 or cyberlink power director
It really is a matter of personal preference, I have 3 NLEs, Adobe Premiere Elements 13 (with 14 due for release shortly), Sony Movie Studio 13 Platinum and of course, VSX8, my 1st choice editor is VSX8, it is very easy to use with a very short leaning curve and, in my opinion, the most stable of the 3 programs. I stopped using PowerDirector with version 9, the program being too unstable, which I believe is still an issue for many PD users. PowerDirector does have many attributes that are not available with the other editors and at the moment is available at reduced pricing (PD14 is due for release) VSX8 is also available at reduced prices
Each program has features that are unique to them, I sometimes use all 3 programs to create a project, for slideshows, PowerDirector wins by a country mile, FastFlick at the moment is just too basic for any serious slideshow creation, although it is possible to create some reasonable slideshows within VSX8 using instant project.
PowerDirector used to be a very easy program to use, but now also has a very large learning curve for a newbie.
