PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
Has anyone been able to get the OnOne Perfect ffect 9.5 to work as an effect within PSPX8? I can get it to work as a stand alone and within another program I have. I have (in my file locations/EFX) PSPx8 pointed to Program Files x86, onOne/Perfect Effects 9...but it doesn't show up as an effect in PSPX8. Anyone else? As an aside, the NIK filters appear to work fine in PSPX8 Ultimate.

Is OnOne 64 bit or 32 bit? And if 32 bit, have you installed the 32 bit version of X8?

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
Good point and one I hadn't considered. However, the other application in which OnOne shows up is 64 bit. I "assume?" if it shows up in one 64 bit program it should show up in others? Yes-No?

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
On1 software doesn't work with PSP. I own the full On1 suite and use as Standalone or in PS. I did manage to get PSP to interact with it using a similar script to the one used for the Nik filters. My image does open in Perfect Effects Suite and I can edit it. I can click OK and then go back to PSP but although a new layer has been added there is no change in the image. I think that shows that this method may work if we can get the image to save back into PSP, either as a new layer or as a new psd document.pdxrjt wrote:Has anyone been able to get the OnOne Perfect ffect 9.5 to work as an effect within PSPX8? Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
I also have the full OnOne suite and never tried to get it to work in PSP before. However with the inclusion of Perfect Effects I thought I would give it a go. Hmmmmm, if you can't integrate it into PSP it doesn't do much for the old workflow!

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
I was disappointed that Perfect Effects wasn't a plugin so I modded a Nik Color Effects script to use Perfect Effects.

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
Just tried it and got this:
File "<string>", line 1
from PSPApp import *
^
IndentationError: unexpected indent
------- Command Execution Failed -----------
Command Name: RunScript
Error Text: The script could not be loaded.
So what I did was copy the script, past it into a text document and renamed it with a PSPScript document type. Then I put it in Trusted Scripts. It showed up in PSPX8 and I bound it to an icon and put the icon on my toolbar. I opened a photo and hit the icon and that was the message I got. Any ideas would be appreciated as was developing the script in the first place. Thanks

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
Yes, from promo release info, Corel led me to believe Perfect Effects would run as a plug-in. Have to say it's usefulness is limited if not.
By the way, OnOne has given Perfect Effects 9 for free several times this year, so Corel isn't really giving you anything like with Perfectly Clear.

Actually there are more presets in the basic version Corel is giving than what is in the free version. Otherwise, the two are the same.

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
Given that replies indicate that the plugin might now be working as hope with the modified script that works with Nik plugins, you might want to post this script in the PSP Scripting group (it's the subgroup at the top of this group) and ask people to test it and see if they can modify it to make it more universally applicable. @patara's post indicates that the script can be made to work partially but isn't saving the image that was edited in OnOne to the temp file that should then open in PSP. So it seems to me that it's just some mods to that part of the script that might have to be made to get it to work. Just a thought.zombielord wrote:I was disappointed that Perfect Effects wasn't a plugin so I modded a Nik Color Effects script to use Perfect Effects.
Here's the script I use for OnOne Perfect Effects
NOTE: You MUST select edit orignal in OnOne for the plugin to work as the script looks for that file and it is already a copy anyways so no worries.
If you can improve the script please share.

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
Sorry I didn't mention it, but yeah you need to put it in the DriveLetterHere:\Documents\Corel PaintShop Pro\18.0\Scripts-Trusted as a script file. (I Named it PerfectEffects9-5.PspScript)pdxrjt wrote:Just tried it and got this:

I don't have the issue that you do but I run my scripts through the script toolbar.
I started reworking the script and then found this thread and posted to it. The script does work, but there is some limits like I posted above. Hopefully I can work with other script writers and refine it more. As it sits now though the script I'm using sworks fine for me if I just tell Perfect Effects to edit the original file.... you might want to post this script in the PSP Scripting group (it's the subgroup at the top of this group) and ask people to test it and see if they can modify it to make it more universally applicable

Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
As it appears to work with your added info, I would still suggest that you post the script in the scripting group with a description of what it is (e.g., modified script that works for Nik plugins) modified to work with this plugin, and with detailed instructions. Then anybody still having issues can post them there and you will likely get other script writers chiming in to refine it more. Re: PSPX8 Ultimate and and OnOne Perfect Effects
I think rondo is referring to the the Full version Giveaway that On1 has done a few times over the past 2 years. It is the same full version that is included in my On1 Suite.Kathy_9 wrote:Actually there are more presets in the basic version Corel is giving than what is in the free version. Yes, the default free version is limited, but the Retail Free is a full working version. It works in PS and standalone and can be installed at anytime with a license for life, but with no updates. Last time it was free I mentioned it in the Corel Newsgroup.

Thank you, ZombieLord. I was doing the same thing as you but not getting the result back into PSP. I realised what I was doing wrong when you mentioned about applying to the original. I was doing the default setting of Copy.
As soon as I changed that, my script worked fine for me.
I'm using this to open the whole suite, not just Perfects Effects. It opens the suite for me [as that is the file address I used] and I can then choose what Tab option eg. Effects etc.. Then Apply, Save and Close. The effects are applied on a new layer in my PSP.
Have been trying to use this method with my own script for 18 months but never thought about applying to the original. Appreciate your input.
