While I might simply discount this as some form of incompatibility, I have never, ever, had problems loading these files into AVS4YOU software. However AVS4YOU software is not a substitute for VS X6 especially when it comes to working with interlaced video.
AVS4YOU has a ReMake option which extracts the the video but does NOT render it. When using this option to generate a MPG file, VS X6 loads and processes the file perfectly. Unfortunately the AVS4YOU ReMaker program renders the audio to 128kbps so I lose audio quality. I've raised the audio issue with them but it's on their to-do list which is most likely never.
Can anyone suggest how VS X6 can accept MPEG-TS files or if there is a program which remuxes (I think is the right term) the video and audio to convert to MPG and retain the exact quality. I tried Quick MPEG splitter but it wouldn't load the MPEG-TS file either.
Thanks
