Transitions
I recently upgraded from X6 to X8 Ultimate. I notice that there are only a few transitions under the "Overlay Transitions" tab but none others. There used to be many, many more...
A related problem is that I want to use random transitions for a short slide show. That button does not work. When I click on se random transitions, I get the popup that says transitions will be overwritten but nothing else happens. I can use one transitions for all slides but not random.
Maybe these problems are related. Does anyone have any ideas...
Thanks in advance.

Re: Transitions
It sounds as though you have not installed everything
did you download and install THREE files - - or Four if you bought the blu-ray plug-in
I would say you two problems are definitely connected and related to an incomplete install

Re: Transitions
In my own X8, I have 40 transitions in 'Overlay Transitions' and a total of 128 in 'All'. It sounds as though you may not have loaded all the files when you upgraded to X8 Ultimate. You should have received three main install files and the optional. These files are labelled:
1. VideoStudioUltimateX8_x64_1Main (You will probably also have received one with x32 instead of x64)
2. VideoStudioUltimateX8_2Contents
3. VideoStudioUltimateX8_x64_3Bonus (You will probably also have received one with x32 instead of x64)
4. VideoStudioX8_Blu-Ray
If these installed properly, you should have received all the transitions. I think they are in the 2Contents file, so you might want to reinstall that one. If that does not work, I would reinstall all of them.
One other thing you might want to try first, though, before reinstalling, would be to go to C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64) and rename the 18.0 folder to 18.0_OLD. Then restart X8. This will normally rebuild all the contents including any that are missing. But if it still does not give you 128 transitions, then I think there is no alternative but to reinstall.

Re: Transitions
Thanks for the quick response.
1. I tried to rename the folder you suggested and then start X8. It took a while to start but there were still only the few transitions. I counted 40 in total.
2. I checked and I do have the 3 files you mentioned. I clicked on the _2Contents.exe and it seemed to install but again there were only the 40 total transitions.
I guess I have to reinstall everything. Question: I bought this as an upgrade from X6. Should I uninstall X8 before reinstalling? If so, will I have a problem because it was an upgrade?
I'm not in the middle of any projects so I can uninstall with worry.
Thanks again

Re: Transitions
It's been a while since I installed an upgrade version. But unless things have changed, all you should require is your X6 serial number which the X8 installation process will require to first establish it was a valid upgrade. But normally we would suggest a full uninstall of X8 instead of just reinstalling over the existing installation. There used to be a Repair option if you had a boxed version of the program, but I am assuming you downloaded your upgrade, and the Repair function was not usually available with downloaded versions.

Re: Transitions
I am happy to report that all is well again. I uninstalled and then reinstalled each from the 3 files as mentioned above. All transitions are there and now the random addition even works.
Thanks for the help.

Re: Transitions
We had the same problem with our Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8. After the initial download and installing each file plus bonus content we were left with a fraction of the transitions and some missing elements in other areas, such at FX.
The give away was that common transitions such as "FADE TO BLACK" were missing and there were only about 40 transitions.
For those who have the same thing happen this is what we did to fix the situation;
1) Uninstalled everything related to Corel VideoStudio Ulitmate X8
2) Reinstalled from the downloaded files, Main, Content, and Bonus with these checks...
2a) After the main installed I opened X8 to make sure the default transitions were there - they were.
2b) I made every transition a favorite so that the My Favorites folder was the same as the default set of X8 transitions.
2c) I installed all Corel updates using the Check for Updates option from the Help menu.
2d) I installed the Content file.
2e) I again opened X8 and checked to see that Transitions was complete... it was.
2f) I installed the Bonus content.
2g) I again checked all sections... each time more content would appear and the transitions were still there.
3) I install the promotional content, in my case New Blue elements and such.
3a) I again opened X8 and checked all sections, Transitions, FX, Paths, etc.
From all the reading and digging it appears that there are two critical events that need to happen in order to avoid the missing transitions;
A. Install all the downloaded files in the order of Main then Content then Bonus - opening between each and checking all content. This appears to force a rebuilt of the content folders with each new addition.
B. Install Main X8 program updates as soon as the Main X8 is installed then continue with the Content and Bonus portions.
I do feel that by selecting the transitions also as my favorites it might have prevented the other files (Content or Bonus) from over-writing or removing items that were associated with personal customization - essentially preventing them from messing up the transitions.
This is just a guess - but from all the reading and digging on this issue it appears to hold. Often times other users would lose transitions or FX or other elements only after installing Content or Bonus or Third Party items such as New Blue.
Bottom line - open X8 between each install and check if anything is missing then move to the next.
Good Luck.

Re: Transitions
As a follow up to this previous FIX.
I had to install a new hard drive after the one with my operating system and Corel VideoStudio X8.5 died.
After installing the drive, installing Windows 7, and then Corel VideoStudio X8 I again found that some of my menu elements were missing!
This is very frustrating because this was a clean install, on a new drive, following all the installation process with all updates, patches, and hot fixes.
I really feels like Corel's installation process just does not work properly.
By this point, it takes up to 7 updates and hot fixes to bring Corel VideoStudio X8 up to full functioning not to mention the 3 original Main, Content, and Bonus files to actually load it. That is 10 components where possible problems can develop.
The only confirmed FIX for this situation that other similar threads suggest it to totally uninstall ALL ELEMENTS of VideoStudio X8.5 and systematically install each element, checking after each step. I will use the clean uninstaller to remove all elements.
I have never had Corel VideoStudio X8 work after the first install on my machine. Only after methodically running after each element after each install appears to force the program to take hold properly. Another possibly unrelated step is to copy ALL transitions and such elements to your Favorites so that the program can not lose them.

Re: Transitions
Hi
Installing X8, this is what I do
1 / Install the Main program
2 / Download and Install (Corel VideoStudio X8.5 Hotfix 2 ) allows the program to run.
Run to make sure it does launch.
3 / Install Contents Pack – If you wish run program again to check library contents
4 / Install Bonus pack where ultimate has been purchased
5 / Run program
6 / Check for updates should give you the latest service pack for CVSX8
You should only have to install the one service pack
Do not install service packs manually, allow the program to do automatically.
Current version for X8 is 18.6.0.6

Re: Transitions
Thanks to Lata for the assist:
After I fully uninstalled Corel VideoStudio X8
Here is how those same steps went for me (it did work)
1/ Installed the Main Program (I had the downloaded file version)
2/ Downloaded and Installed VSX8_HotFix_2.exe from Corel's site (This is the file released dated 2016-02-11)
2b/ Ran CVS X8 which automatically launched an update dialog requesting CVS X8 Service Pack 3 - which I installed then
Ran CVS X8 again and this time it launched without Content or Bonus obviously
3/ Installed the Contents Pack - ran after that to confirm and refresh libraries
4/ Installed the Bonus Pack (as I do have Ultimate) - it did install faster and with fewer delays than in previous attempts
5/ Ran CVS X8 - all elements appeared to be in place (except for the NewBlue Titler EX that had been problematic for me earlier)
6/ Checked for updates through the CVS option - none found
I did not install any Service Packs manually this time, only those prompted by the program itself.
Two packs total appeared to have been needed; VSX8_HotFix_2 and CVS X8 Service Pack 3
My current version for X8 is now 18.6.0.6
Thanks Lata

Re: Transitions
Hi
Some users do have issues showing some FX filters, Titler EX and Boris seem to suffer most.
Re-setting the program by re-naming the folder 18.0b could fix that.
It will reset the library, so if you need the library do a Settings Library Export to save a copy.
Go to :-
C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Ulead Systems\Corel VideoStudio Pro (x64)\18.0
Rename 18.0 to 18.0 old
The folder structure is hidden by the operating system, windows 10 folder view tab has a “Hidden Items” tick box, you should then be able to see the appdata folder.
Launching the program will re-create a new 18.0 folder, may take a while to start.
Not sure what else to suggest if Titler does not show now.
Post updated, I have justed checked my version of X8 and i do not have Boris showing in FX library, Hmmmm
Hi again
I tried resetting the program and resetting the library no go…
Viewing the installation folder did not show the Boris file, so clearly not installed.
Only after installing the Boris Grafitti by running...VideoStudioUltimateX8_64bit_3Bonus.exe ....did I manage to restore Boris Graffiti, no idea why it did not install first time round?
I do not have a problem with TitlerEX which shows as NewBlue Titler EX on the drop down menu of FX
