Pencil effect on photos

They are making great looking bike racing effects (probably using PhotoShop) and I would like to be able to do the same in PSP X4.

I can get some of the way using PSP tutorials but I miss that pencil sketch effect on coloured surfaces, it must be a specific plugin that does that?

Any good ideas?

You may want to do some experimenting with Effects -> Art Media Effects. Pencil gives some nice results and Black Pencil and Charcoal also work and you can try some duplicate layers and blend modes too.

As far as a plug-in is concerned I have been able to achieve that effect with Topaz Simplify and there is also Akvis Sketch but I have never used it.

PSP also comes with a number of scripts that perform various effects.

Scripts like:
13 Comic LIne Art
Airbrush and ink
Art
Black and White pencil
Black and White Sketch
Color Sketch
Colored Chalk
Painted Carved Wood
Watercolor
Wet Watercolor

These scripts use various commands to come up with complex designs. You can find the scripts inside the Scripts toolbar.

To make the scripts toolbar visible go to View -> Toolbars -> script
On the script toolbar is a drop down box for selecting one of the scripts available to you. Select one, then click the blue play button. It'll run the script, and may ask you if you want to change any of the settings. For now just hit "OK" on any dialog box to accept the defaults.

Thanks all, I will try the different methods. I haven't really worked much with scripts before so its time to experiment!
