I recently downloaded and installed Windows 10. Since doing so, some things didn't work right anymore and I lost a lot of apps. In fact, I ended up having to completely wipe my hard drive, install Windows 10, and then begin reloading everything. So, after reloading Videostudio x6 Ultimate, I can't register it again and get access to the tutorial info, updates, etc... Corel said that x6 won't work on Windows 10 and to reload my previous operating system and leave it alone. But, so far, x6 is working on Windows 10, I just can't get the registration to work so I can download new stuff and watch the videos in the learning tab. Also, I lost my drivers to get my Radeon card to allow Videostudio to use hardware acceleration during encoding. Trying to get the drivers back and install them isn't working anymore... Anyone have any suggestions? Anyone know of any work-arounds to this problem?
I was thinking about either formatting another partition on my drive and installing the old OS on it, or just buying another drive all together to place in the tower and have the old OS on it with VideoStudio.

Re: Videostudio x6 working on Windows 10
FWIW I had a not dissimilar problem when updating one of my computers to Win 10. Cutting what turned out to be a long story short, I ended up with a dual boot system with Win 10 on one drive and Win 7 Ultimate on another. Luckily I had plenty of disks and disk space on that computer (in all 3.2 GB) so it was no major problem and works well. It just involves an extra key stroke or mouse button when booting up and I have to choose which OS I want to load.
Unfortunately for you, I was aiming to load VS X8 on that computer. I did so in Win 10 and had no problems. Win X6 was already on the Win 7 partition, though I haven't yet tested it. But I am afraid you might be out of luck if you are expecting Corel somehow to issue a patch to make X6 work properly with Win 10.
On another of my computers that I was updating to Win 10, I had a similar problem to your one with your graphics card. In my case it was an NVidia GeForce 7600. In the changeover, Win 10 obviously decided it didn't like the driver and substituted a Microsoft generic driver which simply could not give me anything except a screen and programs distorted horizontally (i.e. everything sort and fat). I tried looking for a recent NVidia driver, or miracle of miracles a Win 10 update from NVidia. But all I could find on the NVidia site for that old card was a driver for Vista of all things. I loaded it with few expectations, and to my astonishment, it worked just fine and the screen resolution has returned to normal. Given that your Radeon is far more recent, you might want to look for the latest available driver for that card and try it. You may be surprised!

Re: Videostudio x6 working on Windows 10
Thanks Ken, I have the most recent Radeon driver, but no luck. I still can't get the hardware acceleration feature to work for rendering. I read that it needs a codec that was used upto driver 12.3. But, that driver won't work with Windows 10... I suppose the only thing I can do is exactly what you did... Partition or get another drive and load 2 operating systems.
Thanks.
Thanks.
