Re: Video Studio x7
I'm afraid I don't have the Hero 4, just the Hero 3 Black Edition. However, I am 99% sure that GoPro did not change the video format their cameras use which is AVCHD mpeg-4 using the H.264 codec. If so, then X7 should edit it just fine. Certainly I have had no trouble with my Hero 3 footage using VS X6, X7 and now X8. Your difficulty should also not relate to your operating system, since I had both X7 and X8 on two 64 bit Windows 8.1 systems and they worked fine (as they do now on Windows 10).
Some other users have, however, reported problems with their footage from the Hero 4 on Windows 8. Corel's tech people recommended they download another codec, which appears to have cured their problems. You might want to try it. It's at http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow ... %20builds/ It's the top of the list. And in case you don't know it, SourceForge is a highly respect body which develops quite a lot of open source software. The download from their website will be safe.
One other thing you might want to try is to use GoPro's own editing package which is available on their website. It is called simply Studio and is free. It has only limited editing capacity, but it will convert the original mp4 footage to .mov which should then open properly in VS.

Your last post unfortunately crossed while I was editing my own post to add a few suggestions. Have a long at that now to see if it helps.
