Frame issue on VideoStudio X8

Post by stathis80 »

Hello, I have an issue with a frame on VideoStudio X8.

So, i was doing my projects on VideoStudio X5 and in the end of my video, i was using this frame here:
X51.jpg
When I bought the VideoStudio X8 and I wanted to use the same frame, its colours changed and became like this:
X81.jpg
I didn't do anything, i just inserted the old frame from X5 to X8.

Why is this happening? Is there a way to fix it? I want to use the frame like it was in X5 to VideoStudio X8 !!
Please somebody help!

Welcome to the forums! And don't worry -- your frame is in fact white or as in the second image!! It's just the way you have your timeline set up. That greenish colour is just the default colour of all the timelines. If you look to the immediate left of the green you will see a frame showing what is in the preview screen.

If you want the green to go and be replaced solely by frames showing that same image then go to Settings > Preferences > Clip Display Mode and select Thumbnail Only. The green will now be replaced by a series of individual frames for the length of that particular clip.

Ken, you totally didn't understand the poor guy problem. It's not a time line thing its the png .
Stat, what you are using is a png file with transparency. this kind of files are ment to be on the overlay track.
The black here represent transparency, if you want to have a white instead of black in your project, put a white clip on the first track and the png file right above it on the overlay track.

So is the basic problem that it shows a light grey in X5 but as bright white in X8 - I would think that's just because of the way Videostudio displays the frames

if that is your problem then why not just export the png you moved between versions to an image editor - change the colour - and put the resultant image back into X8 - in fact the way you appear to be using it you do not even need a frame with transparency so a standard jpg would also work

To me it looks like the frame has changed from a full one to one with a wavy bit at the bottom. It may have the same name, but it is a different item.

omg! that worked! It worked! I can't believe it! :D Thank you very much!
But i find it a little bit weird why I had to do such thing in X8...
I mean, shouldn't it work right away with the correct colours? But anyway....since it worked....I am ok with it...

You could also use any other colour or a still photo or a patterned image in that situation
