1/3 of Video Thumbnails are black. A bug in VideoStudio?
In Corel VideoStudio Pro X7, when I import video media into the media browser window, about 1/3 of the video thumbnails for them are black with the others being OK. When I look at the same media files in a Windows 7 browser, they are all OK with correct previews, so Windows 7 thumb preview settings are correct. I can click on one of the black thumbnails and play it and it plays normally.

What video media? From where? Some more details on what you are doing, please.

By "media browser window" - do you mean the library pane.
Your problem sounds like a Windows operating function - thumbnails viewed in Videostudio show the very first frame of the video and if the very first frame is plain black then the thumbnail will be black - it does not mean there is a problem with the video - - when you view the thumbnail in windows file explorer or some other programmes they may well select a frame 5 to 10 seconds into the video - which will then show an image in the thumbnail
do a few tests - put some of the videos in the timeline of Videostudio and expand the timeline to view individual frames - I am confident you will find the ones showing a black thumbnail will have some black frames at the beginning.
