Anyone know when PaintShop Pro X8 will be released?

No one here works for Corel and none of us have been informed of any official release date. However, the usual Corel release times for new versions seems to be approximately one year after the previous version was released. So work it out from there... IIRC X7 came out some time in August last year...

Edit: I took advantage of the pre-order and am using it right now, 9 days before the general release date. Luckily there's no jarring changes to the program, but I am definitely seeing a performance improvement which is good. A quick play with X8 and I immediately notice reactions to menus and cursors is very snappy, I'd guess the underlying engine has had a tune up.

Can you share the link from where I can order PSP X8 Ultimate? I already have X6 and X7 installed in my system, but did not receive any notification about the availability of X8.

Never mind...I ordered it from the Corel online store a few hours ago. This release is definitely an evolution instead of a revolution....with minor tweaks here and there, but I need to explore a bit more. The Athentech Imaging plugin seems to work better in X8, compared to X7. I love the results using just the presets in a few of my images.

I have news on this! I can confirm that PaintShop Pro X8 will be released soon! I found this out from Corel, who contacted me after I contacted them related to another issue.

My problem was with X6, which has just been answered on another thread on this board, but I tried getting help from Corel through Facebook and Twitter and got the runaround, so I contacted Corel headquarters, and I mentioned as a solution that maybe they would consider allowing me a limited update to X7 while I wait for X8 to come out, which I always planned to upgrade to when released. I really didn't think they would go for it but I thought it was worth a shot.

Well, to my surprise, Corel called me, and the person I spoke to told me that I should just go ahead and download the trial version of X7 in the meantime because X8 will be out very soon, she wouldn't give me a release date, but she said X8 would be out before the 30 day trial date of X7 runs out, solving my problem - so I take that to mean X8 will probably be out within weeks, a month at the most.

I must say I was impressed Corel called me and offered me this solution. Good for them!

I don't think the Corel site will be updated until the official release. Corel sent emails providing an early pre-order link to registered users of X7 but it seems to be hit or miss as to whether you actually receive the email. They did the same thing last year. I did not receive one but others have. I know I am on their mailing list because I get emails from them all the time offering this product or that product on sale, etc.

Interestingly enough, though that link is obviously meant for a UK customer, it correctly showed me a NZ$ price (I live in New Zealand...) But I still haven't received an email from them directly...

Aha! Yes -- that did it! I opened X7 then closed it and got the announcement nag screen which took me to the offer.

I have just spent 4 months in the USA and returned to Australia a few days ago. So? So Corel uses Geotracking to set the prices shown. I could use a proxy site to find a better price but that shouldn't have to happen.
For Australians the x8 upgrade is showing $65.00. I'm interested in what others are being offered price wise. I know that there is an exchange rate calculation but why the price variations for loyal customers/users? After all it's just a simple download that doesn't know borders.

In the UK the upgrade price for X8 pro pre-release is GBP £44.99 (That price includes V.A.T., an unavoidable tax for non-commercial users)

That would be about AUD A$96.00 or USD $70.00 if Australians and Americans paid the same as the UK, something which is extremely unlikely. That being said tax must be paid here and it's pretty high so that accounts for a lot of the difference.

In Canada the upgrade price is $59 which is a little under $62 AU.
