One Project many slideshows

Post by discman2 »

I have created several slideshows in MF4 and want to put them all in one project but can't see how to add them as completed slideshows. I can open an existing slideshow and add a video and/or create a new slideshow but can't see how to just add another already completed slideshow. Any instruction would be very much appreciated.

Can't do it. Same problem with Pictureshow 3. The slideshows do not exist outside of the project file. Best thing I could suggest is if you have a project with several slideshows you can use that as a base and rebuild the other slideshows in that project.

If you were using Videostudio, you could put multiple project timelines on the DVD or at least output each slideshow as a video file.

create your slideshow without menu. export it as DVD-video folder. repeat it for the other slideshows you wan to create. make a new project and import all the DVD folders using the Import DVD. now you have a project that contains all your slideshows (in mpg format).

>I have created several slideshows in MF4 etc etc

The slideshows you are creating are actually videos.
So MF4 is turning the pictures into a video on the dvd.
The video is an Mpeg2 file. Each Slideshow should be a separate
mpeg2 file on your dvd's.

So write down your project settings to know the specs that you
are creating the mpeg2 file with. That would be the "GEAR" icon on the
bottom of the screen. You can customize those settings.

What you want to do is export each slideshow out to a separate mpeg2
file (this is a new feature in MF4 versus previous versions).
While on the timeline (The 1st screen)
Highlight the Thumbnail of the slideshow and click on the EXPORT ICON
on the left side of the screen. Create a mpeg2 dvd compliant file on the
harddisk which will be your slideshow. That will be a video slideshow you
can use for many other projects or dvd's.
After you create the mpeg2 file (slideshow video) on the harddisk test it
by playing the video in the "Ulead Dvd Player" or any dvd player on
the computer.

Close that project and load in the next project (slideshow) you wanted
to combine. Create another mpeg2 file as stated above.
This could be an endless process.
The amount of slideshows you can create is limited by the size of the dvd.

After you have created the mpeg2 videos on the harddisk.
Start a new project and import the videos onto the timeline.
Each slideshow will be a separate menu item.

One suggestion, when you create the mpeg2 files use "FRAME-BASED".
This seems to produce better results over interlaced (field A or B) when
making slideshows.

I use MovieFactory4 to create a slideshow by loading the pictures and
exporting to a mpeg2 file (stated above). Then I use that video for
many purposes. Either MF4 or any other dvd burning software that
can import mpeg2 files and create dvd's.

So, the bottom line is EXPORT each slideshow you have created to
a mpeg2 file on the harddisk. After you have those videos on the harddisk
then start a new project and import the videos onto the timeline.
Go directly to the menu screen etc etc -> burn dvd.

Hope this helps,

MD
