Windows 10 and Videostudio

Post by Winifred »

I'm thinking of installing Windows Upgrade Windows 10. I am presently using Windows 7. On the pre scan of programs compatible with Windows 10 Video Studio X5 appears but not Video Studio X8. X8 was an electronic upgrade to VS X7. However I still have VS X5 installed on my machine. Does this mean that VSX8 will not be compatible with Windows 10. I would be grateful for any help towards the final decision as to whether to leave my operating system as it is.

The best advice I had about Windows 10 was wait. See the results from others and then jump. If you have registered you have a year to free download from the 29th so, unless you want to be a pioneer jus join the rest of us and watch this space. If things don't work we will all soon know!!!
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

I'm running X8 with no problems on Windows 10. Upgraded all of my machines last night.

Ditto. I changed my main computer to Win 10 this morning and all my existing programs, including all the Corel ones, open with no problem just as they did on the previous operating systems.

Can we assume you tried to uninstall those programs using Control Panel > Programs and Featues, which appears to work exactly the same as previous versions of Windows?

My vsp X6 was golden on windows 7... recently upgraded to Windows 10 and vsp X9 ultimate, and certain basic editing features don't work. Suspect it may be a Windows 10 issue, because Windows 10 is awful - does not perform many basic functions. I would stick with windows 7 as long as possible, and i am looking into going back to it. Win 10 is a nightmare.

So are you saying that all versions of VS from X4 to X9 run fine on Windows 10 without having to either hide Windows updates or apply hotfixes from Corel? Thanks.

I don't know about X4. I should have been more precise and said several successive versions. But I have, on different computers all running Win 10 (one Win 10 Pro) VS versions X5 through to X9 and all work fine. I have not had to do anything special to achieve this, though all have all their patches and updates as supplied by Corel.

I have versions 8 (yes eight) - 10 (yes 10) - X2 - X4 - X5 - X6 - X7 - X8 and X9 on my Windows 10 desktop and all seem to work whenever I want them to without any apparent problems

I did nothing at all to the PC simply upgraded from Win 7 to Win 10 and apart from having to download a new update for my back-up programme I have done nothing else at all - and everything seems to be working fine - no windows updates hidden - hotfixes were applied when the PC had Win 7

This laptop has X7 - X8 - X9 running - no problem - other than the update to the back-up system I did have to download a new driver for the synapsis pad - but all easily available and free - again no windows updates hidden - hotfixes were applied when the PC had Win 8.1.

My first post hope I am doing it correctly.
I had VSx7 running happily on windows 7 that is until the windows upgrade in Feb this year. Then VSx7 wouldnt open. Corel said I needed to upgrade to windows 10. It would open but on play back was jerky. Corel said they didn't support X7 any longer so I upgraded to VSX9. Still jerky. They then said I needed to upgrade to windows 10. I did this. Still playback jerky.
Really disappointed as I have had a new computer built. 2 T ssd . Titan X graphics and Ram increased to 16 GB

This is what Corel support said
Thank you for contacting Corel Technical Support.
The developers are already notified of this and they are doing their best to develop a new service pack to fix this error.
So for now, we would suggest that you wait for the next release of the service pack.

Is anyone using SVX( with Windows 10 sucessfully?

In the meantime I have purchased Adobe Premiere Elements 14. It is working well for editing my 4K video So why dosnt Corel work? (Adobe not as nice to work with) So keen to get Corel working.

Can anyone help
