Smartscene menu as a video clip?

Post by Davidk »

An unusual request . . .
Does anyone know how to find a smartscene menu "background" (see the share, DVD, burner module, edit stage) as a separate video clip?

Further information as to why
Most people have heard of the University of the 3rd Age (U3A). There are chapters all over the world and they use volunteers to present classes on just about everything, from languages to computer science, bookbinding and even politics. I tutor a class in Brisbane on movie making, which in reality is more about about learning 'as you go' to use a camcorder, and a computer with a video editor (VS) to massage various multi-media sources into a polished "make your own movie" end result.

I want to create a short (30sec) advertising clip to use in other U3A computer classes on what we do, and using a smartscene clip looks attractive for that purpose. But it would need to be in a video clip form that could be stored on a memory stick (30 sec on a CD seems ridiculous).

There are numerous videos which look as though they could be menu backgrounds stored on my computer in

C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X8\EditingStyle\Video

maybe one of those would fit the bill

Check \Samples\Decoration for few jpgs .
add some blur , tiny ripple and zoom and you have it.

Are these enough?

All suggestions gratefully investigated.

The attraction of smartscene is a combination of background, a video window against that background that not only plays a clip but moves (the one I had in mind rotates side to side then top to bottom and reverse). A degree of innovation in use seems needed. What I thought to do was have a short 3 or 4 word text descriptor (a title?) for each short sequence, a video clip playing in the windows (like the smartscene menus do for clips in the menu) with a combo of voice and music background: just like a normal edited clip. But it all required that a smartscene menu video file be available to use. The files in the folder suggested by Brian are not smartscene menus, but one or two may be good to use. For example, the file HM_Travel_Start.wmv .

The ones in the clip archive are not a good fit for this approach but may fit others. The group is still working its way thru what the subjects will be and how to present it. Might have to be several short clips of about 30 sec rather then one longer one. Consider how TV ads are structured - short, and repeated.

Thanks,

Perhaps one answer may be to create an actual menu with the features you require - then continue to the burn page and create an .iso

then play the iso full screen in VLC (or whatever you have) and screen capture it as a video
