.PAT file in PSP ?

Post by Jean-Luc »

I'm trying to help someone.
She load often brushes and gradients from Photoshop.
Many are compatible with PaintShop Pro.
Now, she encounter .PAT file (pattern/textures) which are not compatible with PSP.

An advice on how to make those files compatible with PSP?

Open them in Photoshop, create an image from the pattern, and save as a regular PNG or JPG image. That's all I've been able to find online.

Or you can download the Photoshop File Formats PDF and make a conversion utility. Maybe.

Photoshop... Yes...
But she doesn't own Photoshop.

I suggested to use GIMP but I wanted to know if an utility exist for converting .pat file in .abr file or something else.

If I do a google search on "Convert .pat file to jpg" I get at least 4 sites that claim to be able to do the conversions.
Since I don't have a .pat file I cannot test them. I leave it up to you and the person requesting it to do the testing and perhaps come back with answers to aid other people that may have this problem in the future.

There is a GIMP plugin that can do .PAT to layers.

When doing my tests, I just discovered that .pat files may content multiple images.
Plugin for extracting them place each image on a RGB layer.

The plugin for GIMP you mentioned is limited : "Only grayscale, indexed and RGB pattern are currently handled."

I tried a site but limited to 300 K : http://ziin.pl/pl/utilities/convert/pat2jpg

PAT files may be download on internet, for example here :

Continuing to search...
