Very Strange

Post by pepegota »

I dumped an old video tape to my DVR. The file size was 3+ gig. I fixed it up in VS Pro X8 and rendered to custom 352X480 (half DVD.) The resulting mpg was over seven gig. The input was 3+ gig. What happened? I cannot make the movie.

and what bitrate did you set for your output - how did that compare with the input bit rate

I am redoing it with bitrate set at 3000 Kbps and it looks good. File size is 3.20 gig. That should be just fine. Thanks, Brian.

File size is pretty useless when trying to create DVDs. Many factors affect the video such as time length, format. dimension bit rate etc. What are the properties of your source video?

I successfully burned the file to half DVD. The bit rate was initially screwed up. When corrected, the output changed to 3.2 gig, before it was 7+ gig. I found this when I doubled checked per Brian's reply.
