Hi,
Heroglyph40RouteRender.dll is causing an APPCRASH in vstudio.exe when trying to render a VSP file in Corel VideoStudio X8. The output file is 24 bits, 1920x1080, 59.94 fps; (HDMV-NTSC), 16:9; H.264 Video; Video data rate: Variable (Max. 25999 kbps); Audio data rate: 384 kbps.
This problem has been going on since Videostudio Ultimate X7.
The problem appears when I create VSP files with either a complicated route and/or seven or more simple routes using ProDAD RotoPen in VideoStudio and then try to render the file.
I contacted ProDAD but they have no tools what work with their product in VS. So they told me to uninstall X7 and X8 and then reinstall both.
Are there known limitations of ProDAD RotoPen in VideoStudio that explain these APPCRASHes? Is there any way to fix this issue?
Thanks,
Thomas

Re: Rotopen (Heroglyph40RouteRender.dll) causes APPCRASH
Can you render just the route part of your project into the final video format? If you can, then you could insert that new clip into project instead of the map with RotoPen applied. Perhaps not ideal but at least a work-around. I can't really help beyond that since I seldom use more than one route map in a project, and they are usually pretty simple into the bargain...
By the way did you actually reinstall either X7 or X8?

Thanks for the reply.
>Can you render just the route part of your project into the final video format?
Surely and that's what I do but I'm rendering a file of 90 minutes duration and to do that I have to break it into four parts. Of course this makes adding sound more difficult and instead of just making changes in one VSP file, I have to do it in four different VSP files, i.e. it decreases the efficiency of my workflow. Obviously this solution means that there is limitation of ProDAD RotoPen in VideoStudio that causes these APPCRASHes in the large VSP and not when the VSP is divided into four smaller ones.
>By the way did you actually reinstall either X7 or X8?
The problem was in X7 and when I recently upgraded to X8 the problem was there too. The question is what will be achieved in repeating the same X8 installation that I just did? In any event, ProDAD suggested that I uninstall X7 and X8 and then reinstall both after their tools failed to work with their product in VS. Perhaps their tools should be fixed to work with VS.
The point of this topic was to simply ask if there known limitations of ProDAD RotoPen in VideoStudio that explain these APPCRASHes. If not then that's fine.

Re: Rotopen (Heroglyph40RouteRender.dll) causes APPCRASH
I've installed VS 8.5 and the hotfix to address the plug-in licensing error but Rotopen still throws APPCRASH errors as shown below:
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: vstudio.exe
Application Version: 18.4.0.25
Application Timestamp: 55b1ea59
Fault Module Name: Heroglyph40RouteRender.dll

The odd thing is that after the VSP file throws an error, it'll sometimes render successfully if I try again. It would be nice if Corel and ProDAD would fix this integration issue.
