disable auto-preserve

Post by pmarlette »

How do I disable "auto-preserve in Paint Shop Pro (I have PSP Photo X2, but there must be similar functions in newer versions). I have unchecked the "enable auto-preserve" in 'File, Preferences, general,' but I still see a folder that has been newly created each time I make edits. When I delete it, it usually has 457 items. I think it slows editing processes. Any ideas?
Thanks

In X6 it is:
File>Preferences>Autosave Settings>Edit Workspace
Untick Automatically save backup copies of all open files.

It's very easy to miss.
I don't know why this isn't in General Preferences.

Could you be more specific about where you see the folder and the name of the folder? I ask because you refer to the 457 items and wonder if you are referring to thumbs. If you supply the path we may be able to be more helpful.

If you have "enable auto-preserve" checked, when you edit a file and save it Corel creates a sub-folder called "Corel Auto-Preserve" under the source for the file and places the original of the file you edited in that folder. Unless you edited 457 images in a session, you should only have a few files in the Auto-Preserve folder. This folder is not created and no files are placed in one that may have been created earlier if you have unchecked "enable auto-preserve". The Auto-Preserve sub-folder is not visible in Navigator/Organizer.
