Very possibly will be buying PSP X7 but was wondering when the newer version X8 might be out?

Corel doesn't tell us when they plan on releasing X8. X7 was released back in August I think. And they try to keep to a 1 year or so release timeline. So it could be soon. But if you're hoping to get X7 cheap while it's on sale. Have you downloaded the trial to make sure you want X7?

Hi LeviFiction, yes, a few months ago I tried the trial version of X7. I didn't explore it fully but liked it, especially the Discovery Center tutorials, very well done.
One other question: if I bought X7 today and a month or two later X8 comes out, does Corel offer a free upgrade to X8?

Not as far as I know. I've never heard of it. You may have to contact their sales department for these kinds of questions. They can tell you what policies they have in place.

If X8 comes out within the first thirty days you do have the money back guarantee and can return X7 then buy X8....at the higher price.

From what I recall now, I bought VideoStudio a month before VS X8 came out several months ago. (just after the 30 days ran out) I asked Corel if they have a free upgrade from X7 to X8. They said no but offered me a good price to upgrade. But I didn't do it. I figured I'll be paying more than if I had originally bought the X7 at the standard price. I'm sure the same with Paintshop Pro X7.
