Movie profile manager how to add new profile

Post by MikesMovies »

Hi

OK, as my main camera uses 30fps when I was forced to reinstall Studio 8 due to errors I set it up for NTCS.
Of course the very next project I needed to make used 25fps PAL media.
Not too much of a problem as you can customise for that, until you come to share!

Needed to make the file in mpeg 2 for the target device.
And there seems to be no way at all to make a mpeg 2 25fps file.
Ended up making it with mp4 and using Pinnacle studio to convert to mpeg 2 25fps.

Setting aside the fact that I think Corel should give us a simple way to move between the two formats.

I thought I'd use Movie profile manager to add a new profile that would show up in 'share' but again I can not as in mpeg 2 it only offers 30 and 60fps there is no option to set up 25fps.

Is there a way around this annoyance, I can't keep reinstalling every time I need to work with a different standard, Pinnacle never had this issue and is now many years old.
Kind regards from Mike in Sussex UK

Hi Mike
So you have re-installed as NTSC.

Just a quick reply

Project Properties

Go to Settings Project Properties (Alt+enter)
Set Project Format for DVD
New
Compression tab set Media Type to Pal
General tab – 25fps should be available,

Movie Profile Manager

Similar to above,
first select the Format Mpeg2 (that is the same as DVD above)
New
Give the profile a new name

You can also use the Add option to copy video properties.

I wont be available from now till Thursday.

Mike --- Update

Once you have saved a project using Pal settings, keep that project as your Pal Template.
When you need Pal simply open that project and immediately “Save as” to create your new project working copy.

I feel I may have missed something - or am not understanding what you are trying to do.

if I want to make a new movie file template I go to the share tab and select my basic requirement from the boxes at the top - then in the big selection box I select the exact one I want

If there is no exact match I select one very near and then click on the '+' sign at the right hand edge of the screen and a "new profile options" dialogue opens - in your case I would then select the 'Compression' tab at the top - then immediately under that I have a drop down labelled "Media Type" using that - although I have a PAL default installation I can select PAL or NTSC.

then I go to the "General" tab in the "new profile options" window under frame rate if I have selected PAL I get - 23.97, 24, 25 and 50 fps and choose which I want.

If on the other hand I select NTSC I get 23.97, 24, 29.97 and 59.94 - the last two being the normal 30 and 60 options - again just choose what I want

then go to the "Corel VideoStudio" tab and give the profile my own specific name before clicking OK which saves it to make it available for any other projects

my installations are all PAL and yet I can choose all the basic rates

Sorry if I have not understood what you are trying to do - but thats what I would do to get a 30 (29.97) output on my PAL set up
