Hello-
I haven't used PSP for a year or more and recently reinstalled it on a 6 week old, 64 bit Lenovo . Last night activated it and edited an image. Tonight all I can get are smeared images in the editing area and the thumbnails at the bottom.
Does anyone have any ideas? Rebooting the PC does not help and I can think of nothing else.

Prepare a TEST folder on your desktop using windows to copy a couple of images there. Open that folder and minimise it to your task bar.
Then switch your X5 from Manage to Edit mode. Click on the task bar folder to bring the TEST folder open. Drag and drop a couple of imaged from that folder to your Edit window. Do they look blurred?
Then make sure your Organiser is open (View > Palettes > Organiser and navigate to that folder. Are the thumbnails still blurred?
If you have saved your workspace then do a reset open of PSP
Close PSP
Hold down the Shift key
Accept the reset to default
Now check if the blurring still exists.
The other possibility is that your cache of thumbnails is corrupted and may need deleting and reforming.

Re: Images smeared in PSPx5
Sorry Jen-Luc, I don't think I saw your reply. I had given up but wanted to try again. I was trying to find the license number so I could re-install PSP 5. Then I realized that the only images that were blurry were the PEF (Pentax RAW format) files. JPEGs were fine. I generally don't shoot anything but RAW.
So I thought I had my answer and may have to install some file. But then the help file said PSP does support PEF.If I try to pen in any Windows program, it does not support the PEF file, as expected. I don't know what to do now. I am willing to un/re-install PSP if I could find the licence number. I have been using Zoner lately but want to return to PSP.
Any ideas from those more experienced?

Re: Images smeared in PSPx5
I also shoot RAW and my PEF images show up with no problem in X5. I don't like X5 for editing RAW files but everything shows up as it should.
Before contemplating uninstalling, try hartpaul's suggestion to reset the program - this solves many PSP issues.
See what happens if you put a new file into a new folder and open that in PSP. If that is smeared then my guess is that this has nothing to do with cached thumbs.
