I've installed X7 on my Windows 10 pc. I have now purchased and downloaded X8. Has anyone installed VideoStudioX8 on W10 successfully, and if so are there any special tips, ie., run as admin, compatibility mode, etc. I understand if Corel doesn't officially have a version for W10 yet, but they don't for X7 either and I installed it successfully after tweaking the install. I have build 10130 of Windows 10, 64 bit.
Any tips appreciated.
Thanks.

Re: Installing VideoStudioX8 Ultimate on Windows 10
I just installed it and so far it opened fine. Have to install the Ultimate add ons. I will report any issues.
So far, I set properties on the install exe to windows 8 compatibility and set 'start as admin', for all users, and ran it. Started the installed vstudio.exe normally and it opened fine, and I was able to edit a video and edit it, saving several times, but it locked up when i tried to switch to Share tab . Task manager shows Not Responding. I ended task, restarted, said there was an important update, clicked OK to download, VideoStudiox8 started immediately without any update, asked if I wanted to recover project, answered yes, was able to click Share tab at that point. Creating MPEG4 24 bit 1920x1080, 30fps file now.

Re: Installing VideoStudioX8 Ultimate on Windows 10
Hi Jim
And welcome to the forums.
I believe you may be the first to install Video Studio on Windows 10.
I am sure your findings will be useful to other users thanks for that.
My update to 10 is not due till after 29th July, then I am on holiday so will have to wait a few weeks.
We are volunteers helping out on the forum, if you wish a reply from Corel then maybe contact them via support or their Facebook account.
Mpeg4 video, there are many variations and some do give problems, your crash may not have been W10 related, if you have other crashes, yes it’s a problem but try another format, maybe avchd.
One tip, set your project properties to match your video files properties, the program can do that for you when inserting the first video clip.
Go to Settings Preferences and tick "Show Massages when inserting first............."
Once again thanks for the info……..

Re: Installing VideoStudioX8 Ultimate on Windows 10
With Windows 10 build 10130, after previous post info, at completion of my first produced mp4 HD video, I found it played normally. I ran the downloaded update (service pak1) and it still appears to work fine. I have to install the Contents, Bonus and other Ultimate add ons next.

Re: Installing VideoStudioX8 Ultimate on Windows 10
In case this is helpful to anyone, Windows 10 updates can occur automatically if the Update System Settings (advanced) are set to 'Get builds' set to "FAST". If set to SLOW they won't actually update until a specified date.
Also, my system may be helpful info for anyone interested in doing a Windows 10 VideoStudioX7 or X8 install. I have both installed and working, X7 for a few months, X8 just started today.
My current pc has an Asus P6T motherboard, Intel i7 2.67GHz processor, ATI radeon HD5800 video card, 3x24" displays (5760x1080 single desktop) 12 Gb ram, 3xssd hard drives, 4x1TB hard drives. It is not overclocked, as it runs fast enough for me as is. It is almost five years old now and still runs fast. On it are Windows Vista 64bit, Windows 7 64bit , Widnows 8.1 64bit , Windows 10 64bit (currently build 10130), and Mint linux operating systems, each on ssd hard drives. All data is on the conventional drives. VideoStudiox8 and other video intensive software is also installed on SSD howevery.
I've used VideoStudio as my go to video editor for years, but also have other, more expensive editors, but they cannot match VideoStudio in several important areas I like, especially ease of use, and speed at producing a finished video. I shoot videos for my radio control flying club ( https://www.youtube.com/user/cappaj1 ). Most of the over 100 recent videos there were produced with VideoStudio. In case anyone is wondering, I use an older but compact Canon HV30 camcorder with min-dv tapes, and for stills (and some video) a Canon 60D DSLR. I also do the website for the club at http://www.rccr1957.com/hangartalk, and am the club's vp of membership. Much of the club stuff is done on my pc and printers (wide format Canon, Multifunction Epson Artisan 800 with duplexer and CD printing capabilites, and Brother color duplexer laser printer.
I'm planning a new pc, and am slowly purchasing one component at a time. The new pc will include:
-Windows 10, Linux (Mint) 64 bit operating systems
-Motherboard: ASUS X99-DELUXE/USB3.1 LGA 2011-v3 ATX Intel Motherboard
-Corsair 760watt 80+ Platinum power supply and NZXT Phantom case
-Intel quad core Core i7 (LGA2011-v3) processor
-Radeon R9 4GB video card with 3x27 touch screen monitors (planned)
-32GB DDR4 memory, Samsung 1TB and 512GB SSD hard drives, 2TB 7200rpm conventional hard drives
I will continue to update this thread as I use VideoStudioX8 Ultimate on Windows 10 build 10130, in case it's useful to anyone.

I have X8 running on build 10162, I haven't had any problems, but I haven't really done any serious editing.

Re: Installing VideoStudioX8 Ultimate on Windows 10
Forgot I hadn't updated to SP1. All that went well apart from I asked it to restart later as I was doing something else as well at the time. It restarted straight away.
