DVD Read Error....

Post by Vinny »

I've burned two separate home movies to DVD now using VideoStudio 9.
The first one worked properly on my DVD player, and other DVD players owned by the rest of my family and friends.
The second one however (which to the best of my knowledge was done exactly the same), will only work on my DVD player and all computers I've tried.

The only difference I can see is that the first was burned using MPEG audio, Stereo, 224 kbps and the second one using Dolby Digital Audio, 256 kbps.
Does anyone know if this would stop the DVD playing on other DVD players?

Actually, Dolby Digital is more universal than mpeg audio -- so that shouldn't be the problem.

When you say "will only work...", do you mean it doesn't even get recognized by other players, or it plays, but it skips, or there's no audio, or something like that...

What are the project properties of your discs? Were both the same format -- NTSC or PAL? And were both using the same project properties?

Can others at least play it on their computers?

What type of media are you using -R or +R?
There is a big difference when playing a +R disk in a DVD player, some players will not play a +R disk at all, almost all DVD players will play -R disks.

If your disks are the same format and one plays and the other does not then one of the disks is probably bad or got corrupted during the burn process.

I have burned DVDs that would only play in the writer that created the disk, go figure.
