Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Hi guys.
I was looking forward to using the upload to YouTube function in Studio but when I went to use it it only offers 25fps upload formats!
YouTube supports 30 and 60 fps these days so this is very limiting.
Is this something Corel will fix or is there a way we can do it?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
I've not tried uploading direct to Youtube from VS and can't at the moment as have just installed the latest win10 and no VS installation so far.
I'm suspecting it is looking at the type of project properties you have as 25fps and so offering that choice. If you have different project properties of say, 60fps does it then offer you that choice?

Hi, yep that's what I thought, but no it makes no difference what you select it only offers 25fps for YouTube uploads. Seems rather odd really.skier-hughes wrote:I've not tried uploading direct to Youtube from VS and can't at the moment as have just installed the latest win10 and no VS installation so far.

Not a big problem but an annoyance all the same.

You have a nice channel Mike, brings old memories ...
I don't understand your fuss about UT 30 or 60. If you shoot 25 you better keep it all the way and UT will also keep it as 25.
Why you bother at all to upload from VS? most of the guys here upload with a browser after rendering.

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Hi Mike
You are in the UK which uses Pal standards, the program has been installed to use Pal by default, so your standard templates will use 25fps including the YouTube templates.
You can convert / render your projects / videos to 30 fps or 60fps if that’s what you wish to do, that would be NTSC standards.
But you should retain your original video files frame rate which we assume is Pal standards.
Anyway using Upload to YouTube provides an option to “upload a file”
Change the radio button for Upload File.

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Hi Trevor
Of course I never thought of that.
I always upload in the same frame rate and aspect if I can as the original files, they were 30fps. Oddly my camera is set up for PAL and yet films in 30fps.
Cheers

The problem with using Video Studio is that it renders your project and immediately starts to upload to YT giving you no chance to view the final video to check quality.
So I always create my own output file, then yes I could use Video Studio to upload the file.

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Tis a bit odd, but for HD it looks great! Here are the specs
http://www.digitalversus.com/digital-ca ... /test.html
And here my first video ever made with the camera and Studio 8x, still got tons to learn on both but quite pleased with the results.
This video was nearly 2GB in size, I have made a custom template now for 1920x1080 at 30fps and 10000kb instead of the 15000!

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Hi Mike
Looks a nice camera, as for the frame rates you will have to manage them yourself and not use the default templates used in Video Studio.
First set your project properties to match your video files properties, that way the timeline will display 30fps not 25. The program should be able to do that for you…..
Go to Settings Preferences (F6) tick show messages when inserting……..
Start a new project
Add one of your files to the top timeline, hopefully you should receive a message to match the properties. Choose Details, what are the properties in the right hand panel, copy and paste the text to your post.
To render your video files use Share – Same as Project or Same as First clip.
That should use the original video properties.
Also
Go to Settings Movie Profile Manager.
Select the Format, I assume Mpeg4
Choose the Add option and browse for your original video file.
Give the template a name, that will create a new template again using your videos properties, the template will show via Share – Mpeg4 - profile list

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Hi Mike
I viewed the YouTube video, there does seem to be an annoying little judder.
I don’t know if that is my internet connection but would have thought that would be ok, the only other reason would be the frame rate being changed?

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
I agree with Trevor, the video is not pleasant to view.
The very shallow depth of field do not do it justice as well.
As my TV died 2 days ago, I watched it on my 19" computer screen ~2feet away and I stopped after 2 minutes.

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
I'm afraid I have to chime in with Trevor. There is indeed a somewhat annoying judder throughout your video. Curiously enough, it does not appear in all scenes, although it is there in most. Whether it is enough to distract from the whole video is really a matter for how much the viewer notices it or can tolerate it. In scenes where there is no movement, there is no judder. Where the trains are moving slowly, the judder is less -- though in one or two slow moving scenes, the judder is not there at all. But like Trevor, I would have to think it has something to do with frame rate. I see that your camera does indeed film using 60 fps. So if you have made your video using 30 fps you have in effect thrown away half the frames, which again could produce that judder.
So I can only agree with Trevor that you should perhaps experiment with a shorter new project, and follow what he suggested, making sure "Show message when inserting first video clip" is ticked in Preferences. Then when you insert your first video and get the message, accept it and your Project Properties will now match those of the clip perfectly. Then when you are ready go to Share > Same As Project Properties.

I have now followed the advice and set up profile manager for my cameras output as you see above, which should resolve some of what you are seeing I hope.
I had two cameras at work, for the ride on shots a mombius that shoots in 30fps 1080p.
I outputted the video

I have now followed the advice and set up profile manager for my cameras output as you see above, which should resolve some of what you are seeing I hope.
I had two cameras at work, for the ride on shots a mombius that shoots in 30fps 1080p.
I outputted the video

Re: Uploading to YouTube within Studio
Hi chaps
Just an observation.
I just watched back the Studio 8X produced file and it is silky smooth.
Then when I watch the YouTube version I can see the slight judder mentioned! Certainly it is not as nice as the original file.
So, is this just the limitations of YouTube or do I need to be giving them a different file format in order that their transcoded version is smooth?
Thanks for all your help it means a lot and sorry for any delayed replies, I am recovering from stroke like symptoms and it takes me off my feet sometimes.
