PSP X6 32-bit: "Stopped working" error during scan

Every once in a while, scanning with PSP X6 32-bit, I get the following error just before the scan finishes:

Corel Paint Shop Pro X6 (32-bit) has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

This error occurs about once out of every half dozen scans.
Closing the window closes PSP. I have to restart PSP, run the scan again and pray to God that it finishes.

This is a fresh installation as of a few days ago. This error also used to occur in PSP X1, my previous version. Printer drivers are current: Canon MG7520 under Windows 7 (following a discussion with a Canon representative as to why they have no 64-bit TWAIN drivers.)

Anyway, has anyone had this and/or resolved this error? Please assist...thanks!

Have you checked the other threads with problems with using pSP to scan documents?
Hve you also done a soft reset (save workspace (File > Workspace > Save)
Then close the program and hold Shift key down while using the desktop Icon to start the program again and answer Yes to reset to factory defaults.
