VS X7 hangs when fading the music track

Hi All,

I am using VS X7. It has all the updates applied. I am creating a video introduction. It consists of a video track, 2 title tracks and music track. The music track has been split. The project is saved. I can apply a fade to the music track, but if I try to edit the face via the Sound Mixer, the program hangs. The music track is an m4a file. When I click on the Sound Mixer, I do get a message at the bottom of the music track file "Loading wave data...." It just stays there.

The project plays as expected, its just this last edit that is giving me grief. Any ideas?
