External drive not showing in file system tab

Post by Trotto »

Hi guys,
I'm petty new in Aftershot (trying to find a good alternative to Aperture).
I want to edit my pics from the file system tab (before importing all my library) but the external drive is not showing.
I'm using a SSD external drive by Samsung.

Any idea? Is it a bug or something?

Thanks, M

Does it show up under /Volumes ?
Do you start AS after plugging in the external drive?

cheers

Yes i open AS after plugging in the SSD but also if i do it later.
I tried with other external HD but nothing is showed.... no /volumes :-(
Do I need to abilitate anything to see the external volumes?

Hmm, no idea, I don't use a mac with AS. If you don't even see the /Volumes tree, then it sounds like it is hidden from AS.
I guess yet another weird side effect from the Qt switch.

I also have a mac, (and using ASP2 as an alternative to aperture!) I have not tried external SSDs on this machine with ASP, however have had issues with them on other mac machines. Do you know what file system is on the SSD? Have you tried plugging in other USB drives with various formats with the same results?

This is the funny answer from corel support:
"After trying to replicate the issue and asking my colleagues to do the same, we have concluded that Aftershot Pro 2 can open pictures from the C drive. It's unable to open files from an external drive.

I will try to bring this up to our engineers so they can add the feature to the current or next version of the program.

Please save the files in your computer's hard drive and the program should be able to open it."

It's a bloody joke which is costing me about 50€...

That is wrong.

All my images are held on an eternal USB or network attached hardisks and I can access them from my Mac machines using ASP2.2.
It is an OSX problem.

If you go into DiskUtility does the SSD show up ?
You may need to Partition the SSD for use on the Mac. If you need to do then choose Mac OSX journalled option.
Still learning after all these years!
