PSP only printing greyscale

Post by DantePasquale »

Hi, I have been using PSP X7 and just now trying to use the print layout functions. For some reason, even though the preview is in color, the printed image is in greyscale on both my printers wether they are directly plugged in or network served. When I print from other programs, like paint, it prints color just fine! Also, AfterShotPro sees NO printers. At least PSP sees both :)

Are you using 32 or 64 bit version ?
Is it the first time you print with PSP X7?
I print by network with PSP7 SP3 64 bit, Windows 8, with Epson XP-55 in colours. No problem.

It sounds more like a printer setting issue to me rather than PSP.

I have found that what is most important is to ensure the printer is set as desired under printer properties. Even if the PSP setup is set to colour, it won't print in colour if the printer is not set correctly.

From the looks of your PSP and Printer settings, it looks like both are set for color. Try deliberately setting both to black and white, and print a picture. Then change the Printer settings to color and try printing again. Then change PSP to color and print again.

I did a test with a small image of 300 pixels wide and changed the offset to test it out and fountd that if either the PSP or the printer were set to gray scale then you got a black and white image.
Both hade to be set to color/
This with X7 SP3 and runnning windows XP with a canon IP 4700 printer.

In my experience printing issues nearly always come down to incorrect settings with the printer not PSP. My Epson often needs a wake up call. ie I change one setting and then change it back again simply to 'reset' the printer settings. I have no idea why but even using QImage for printing the Epson often needs this wake up nudge.
