Hi Trevor, everyone,

This just gets more interesting, if that's the right word. I suspect not.
VS patches and updates on machine - even after a Cntrl-F5 browser refresh - from the support tab on the Corel home page (what I called the support channel in the previous post) gets me to here http://howto.corel.com/en/c/VideoStudio ... nd_Updates
but there's not a sign of any X8 service pack there. The last one is for X7 this time last year. Similarly, from the main page choosing the products tab, video studio, support (what I called the products channel at http://www.corel.com/us/?pgid=5300054&s ... ageCode=en ) gets me to the same place.

But Trevor's link certainly works. Note the SP1 date - 7 July 2015. How do you do it? and more to the point, how does Corel expect its faithful users to find it when all the patches and updates links on their website are so empty re X8? Can't say I've ever seen a website this screwed before.

Hi

Yes I agree that the Support pages are at fault.

But access Corel.com, Products for Video StudioX8 then access the Support tab for Patches and Updates you get all current patches.

Corel need to be told of the problems with their support site.

Hi All,

Stranger and stranger.

First, Trevor. You need to tell us what your computer is snorting to get patches and updates the rest of us cannot find. The corel.com site you mention - is the same one I linked in my prior posts with no X8 update.

Second, the link from trevor that works. Asik says it's a site in Holland. My browser says its in Australia: Firefox has a handy flagfox plugin which displays in the title bar the national flag of the country where the server supporting that address is, and left clicking on the flag will actually supply it's IP address and some other details. see the following image I trapped.
VS X8 sp1 flagfox site.jpg
3rd, advising Corel that they have serious updates issues would be a forum moderator's job? or maybe Corel is just improving their website with poorly managed mirrors around the world and have not bothered to tell us about it.

"your computer is snorting to get patches and updates "

Hey Trevor
How do you get a computer to snort?
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

OK. Try this. Open Corel.com -- for me, like David, this opens the Australian site (Corel.com.au). But when I click on Products, it switches to the general Corel.com site when I click on the Products tab and select Video Studio http://www.videostudiopro.com/en/produc ... 1436383789

When the Video Studio page opens, there are a number of tabs on it, one of which is Support. See attached image. And when you click on that tab, it does indeed take you to the X8 update patch -- unlike the main Corel.com.au Support link in the top right of that screen, which does not!

Anyway, I will draw Yvonne's attention to this anomaly...

What a maze/stuffup/c....up!. I tried the approach described by Ken . . and wound up exactly where I have been previously, no X8 Sp1. The only connections with Corel that get me to X8 SP1 was the link in Trevor's post. And I have tried every one listed in this thread - several times. The servers for various parts of the site - products or support - look to be in various parts of the world.

How Corel can manage with their website so distributed and un-coordinated beats me. Maybe - in a commercial sense - they can't.

That particularly strange given that like you, David, I started off with the Corel.com.au site and just pressed tabs after that... And I have difficulty believing that living in New Zealand then connects me to different servers than you get from within Australia. But anyway, I have already drawn Yvonne's attention to this thread and hopefully things will get straightened out fairly soon...

EDIT: I spoke too soon about the patch (not about Yvonne). Just to check on what you said, David, I clicked on the link I gave above and it took me to the Corel.com page for Video Studio. I then clicked on the Support tab and this time it took me to a general support page, and I had to click on Patches and Updates again, which... yup! ... took me to the X7 and earlier updates. No mention of X8!! So I went back to the VS page and again clicked on Products and again selected X8. And this time when I clicked on the Support tab I got the X8 update page again!!! Go figure...

Since we are posting about Corel website quirks...
can anybody get a listing of their registers products? When I click on "registered Products" under Products on my Corel Account page, I only get a blank page; no list of of my registered products./

I have no problem getting to the X8 update page when I go via the Products/VideoPro/support sequence. Works every time

I did a Live Chat with Corel just now and they send me a list of my registered products they also send this

I was also advised by the IT to ask clients to re-register the products from latest and one
version back (example: PaintShop Pro X7 and X6) in their Corel Account for quick
reference. The migration actually swept all registrations from 2013 and older.

Hmmm... I was not aware of any recent migration of the main Corel servers, just an update of our Board phpBB software. But just to be sure, I just went to corel.com and logged into my account... and all my registered products are still there, going back to my first Corel product VS 7 in April 2003.
