X7 sp3.exe Bad Image

Post by pjscott51 »

I'm running Win 8.1 64 bit. I'm trying to install the sp3 update for PaintShop Pro X7 but I receive an error titled: PaintShopProX7_sp3.exe - Bad Image. In the body of the error C:\Windows\system32\LZ32.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Error status 0xc000012f.

Thanks,

Paul

That dll file is a Windows system file installed with the installation of your Windows operating system and is used in expanding/compressing files. I imagine it is being called in this case to expand the SP3 installation files but is failing. You seem to have Windows 8.1, as do I. My LZ32.dll file is just a bit over 3kb in size and is version 6.3.9600 16384 (there are different versions of that .dll, many available on the internet, all free). My SP3 update installed with no problems.

Type lz32.dll into Google and you'll find various results showing your issue and various solutions, some depending on the operating system. You'll likely find your solution among them. But first right-click on that .dll in your Windows system32 folder and click the Properties in the context menu that opens and get the details and info about your version of the file. Your issue could be caused by the manner in which 8.1 was installed on your system, but I believe that my version of it was installed with Windows 8 and not changed by the 8.1 update.
