Perhaps you could tell us a bit about HOW you are trying to import the videos - exactly - are these files on your hard drive or an SD card or a camera or what.
what is the process you are trying to use - what equipment are you using - why is there so many formats - where have they all come from

Re: Videostusio pro x7 crashes while importing video to blu-
In answer to your questions,
I was checking to see which format would work with videostudio pro x7
The files are in an mkv format, they are from my digital camera a samsung
I use videoredo to join all my mkv clips together.
I load vs x7 then goto share, then select disc, then blu-ray.
A window pops up, I select add video files, firstly I tried to import an mp4 it crashed..
Corel videostudio has stopped working, in the previous post I listed all the formats I tried and.the results..

Re: Videostusio pro x7 crashes while importing video to blu-
You said the camera outputs MKV, which would make it the first camera I have heard of to use that format natively. Not that that is necessarily impossible. But the spec sheet I have found for the Samsung pl20 show it can output in 1280 x 720 in either AVI format or Motion JPEG (MJPEG). I am not able to find what version of AVI it can produce. VS X7 in any case can't deal with MKV, so I am wondering if that is what you have produced from the original video in Video ReDo...? But if indeed the original video is either AVI or MJPEG, there is a good chance it can be opened in X7 in its native format.
Are you able to download some of the original video from the camera to your computer, then open X7 and use the insert video command to open that downloaded in X7? Then right click on it and select Properties, and copy them ALL here please. Then at least we will have a better idea of what we are dealing with.

What I meant to say was I converted all the video files to mkv then when I had enough to make a blu-ray used videoredo to join my mkv's into 1 video file..

Re: Videostusio pro x7 crashes while importing video to blu-
Why did you convert? Why not just add the video files directly on the timeline? You are really wasting time if that unnecessary videoredo step. On top of that your are probably losing quality with that conversion. Any conversion to another format will usually degrade the quality.Timelord74 wrote:What I meant to say was I converted all the video files to mkv then when I had enough to make a blu-ray used videoredo to join my mkv's into 1 video file..
What is the format(extension) of the files you copied from the camera to your hard drive.?

Re: Videostusio pro x7 crashes while importing video to blu-
First off, under the international Blu-Ray standard, only transport stream AVCHD (which is mpeg-4 produced using the H.264 codec) and high definition transport stream mpeg-2 can be burnt to Blu-Ray discs. (There is another format but we can ignore that for this thread.) MKV is NOT a Blu-Ray compatible format so there is no point in converting to that, quite apart from the fact that X7 cannot deal with MKV.
Since your camera is producing high def MJPEG/AVI -- which X7 CAN deal with, as already suggested you should just transfer that to your computer and open it in X7 for editing. When satisfied with your editing, you should then go to Share and select Custom.
A dialogue box will appear. In the first tab ("General") set the Frame Rate to 24 fps (as per your original clips), and Frame Type as Frame Based. Below that, make Frame Size 1280 x 720.
On the second tab ("Compression") make sure the Video Type is set to H.264 Video and the AVCHD box below that is ticked. You can leave the Video Data Rate at 15000 kbps or something less since your original is much lower than that. However, a higher bitrate usually means higher quality. For audio you can leave it as LPCM as per your original video, or select Dolby. Then click OK to get out of the dialogue box, give your new video a name and click the blue Start button. Your project will now render into a Blu-Ray compatible AVCHD file.
Then when the conversion is done, start a new project. Don't bother about giving it a name -- the objective is just to clear the timeline of the existing project. Then go to Share and this time select Blu-Ray. The burning module will open and its timeline should be empty. Click the Add Video button in the top left and navigate to your new video clip to insert it in the burning module. Next, click on the Options cogwheel icon in the bottom left of screen to make sure the box beside "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is ticked. Then go back to the main burning page, build your menu and burn the disc. To avoid making a drinks coaster, you could select to burn a Blu-Ray folder instead of an actual disc. This will allow you to test what you have done by playing the folder in a freeware player such as VLC Player. If satisfied, you can then use a program like Nero or the freeware ImgBurn to burn the folder to an actual disc.

You mean that the burning module opens and the program crashes when you try to insert your new video, made in the editing module, into the burning timeline?when I try and insert converted file into share ======> Blu-ray, videostudio stops working.
