This is an example of what I'm referring to and what I'm trying to create. When I attached this example, I couldn't figure out how to remove the frame, so it would look better for viewing. If there's anyone who knows how to do that, please let me know.

3D Objects
Is there anyone who knows how to create a 3D object in PSP, like this one I have created in PhotoImpact X3 and attached here. Can this be done in PSP? In PSP, I know you can create objects and under effects you can create a 3D shadow.

Re: 3D Objects
I suppose that would depend more on how you're able to do it in PhotoImapact but generally? Something like that? Yes it's possible.
One way is to just use gradients, make a circular selection then make a radial gradient and move the center off to the area where you want the light to be shining and fill in the selection area. That's a very common practice.
For the quickest way I just used the effects again:
Click on the canvas with a brush with a hardness of 100 percent to get a good solid circle. Then go to Effects->Artistic Effects->Balls and Bubbles
I had a bit more fun adding a bump map to it as well but you can see the result here.
It originally looked more like yours before the bumpmap.

Hey LeviFiction:
A big Thank you. Now, I'm going to try this and see if I can do what you just did. How would you do a square or other shapes? Those examples look great.
Thanks

Re: 3D Objects
Understand that other than the ball shapes I've never done 3D in Paint Shop Pro so if there's something I missed or I over-complicate things it's because I'm not experienced.
Since I've never been forced to do so I don't know exactly how you would approach the other shapes. A plugin might be probable, or looking up tutorials on faking the shapes.
This one for instance:
http://www.designertoday.com/Tutorials/ ... orial.aspx
Also don't be afraid to look at Photoshop tutorials on it.
Otherwise, use an actual 3D editor to 3D shapes and import the renders into Paint Shop Pro. There are lots of good free ones available.

Hey LeviFiction:
Thanks
That's what I did. This 3D circle, was created in PhotoImpact and then I brought it into Paint Shop Pro. I'm going to check out the link you suggested.LeviFiction wrote:Otherwise, use an actual 3D editor to 3D shapes and import the renders into Paint Shop Pro. There are lots of good free ones available.

Re: 3D Objects
One of the ways to make a ball in PSP:
Open a new image, say 300 x 300 pixels transparent background.
Fill with red.
Effects>Artistic Effects>Balls & Bubbles, Click the default button.
Tick Single ball or bubble - you can tick Maximum possible size for a larger ball.
Under the Illumination tab you can adjust the position of the light, change the size and generally experiment
To remove the background, use the Magic Wand and click in the corners of the image to selects around the ball, Delete.

Thanks Joelle:
Even though there are 5 steps to your suggestion, it's a good idea.
I appreciate the tip.

Re: 3D Objects
Here is a small script I made that creates a 3D style sphere. Just select new and use a size of 1000 x 1000 pixels, resolution does not matter.

- On the curves portion of the script a setting of 150>90 gives a nice result

Re: 3D Objects
Your script was made in X3.
When used in an earlier version it generates a message to tell the user it might not run properly.
It works fine in X2, I don't have any other versions installed, so can't vouch for those.
Nice sphere, saves a lot of clicking

Re: 3D Objects
Glad it worked in an earlier version, I was not sure as I don't have my copy of x2 installed anymore.

Re: 3D Objects
Since it's purely a recorded script, and none of the commands used in that script are really unique to X3 so it should work in older versions just fine. Just remove the "Host Version" information and it won't give you that message box again. Anything older than when Paint Shop Pro started using PSPApp vs JascApp will probably give an error but most of it's the same from there.
