Hi,
I have lots of vector text objects to add to my graphics.
When I add a vector text object by default "Stroke" is selected and the "Fill" color is set to the current background color selected in the Materials palette. Is there a way to change this so that by default "Stroke" is cleared and the fill color is always black regardless of the current background color selection?
I thought I might be able to do this using preset shapes. However, the help topic for creating preset shapes says to give a unique name to the shape and I cant see how to do this because when I select the text object with the vector object selection tool the "Rename" command on the Properties menu is grayed out. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Adrian

Re: Cant create preset vector text
Text names are based on the text you write in them. So if I write "Hello" then my object name will be "Hello."
But I don't think it's referring to the vector object name but the name you give it when you export. At least that's what I'm reading from the help files.
Also vector text is not considered a vector shape. So I don't believe you can export it to a preset shape anyway. If you want to export it as a shape you have to convert the text to a path.
If you right-click on your text and go to "Convert to Curves" you'll see options for "Single Shape" or "Character Shapes" you'll also just see one for converting to a path which is essentially the same thing as "Single Shape" after which point its just a regular vector and you can't edit the text in the normal way anymore.
One option you might consider is the use of a script. Record a script of you drawing your text with your preferred settings and save it. It'll remember the text, the materials, the font, everything. Then you can just edit the text to fit what you want and go from there.
