Corel Videostudio X8 doesn't render the video correctly

Post by Bobobot »

I'm having problems with the rendered video's resolution, and the alignment and cropping of some clips.

In the preview window everything looks okay, but when I render the video out, things get cropped out and misplaced.

Here's an example:

This is what a particular clip looked like before rendering: Image
(these are 4 "carefully" aligned pictures using "Customize motion". I also used the "Crop" effect on some of them, which doesn't seem to work either after the render.)

And this is what it looks after the render: Image

The alignment and the cropping does not work as they should be.

I tried to render the video in the following resolutions:
1280x720
1280x960
1280x1024

The project mostly contains images and one video.
Most of the images are 4608x3456, and the video is 1280x960 (I also tried increasing the resolution to 1280x1024, nothing changed)

The project starts with a moving text on a black background, and strangely a part of the first letter seems to be cropped out no matter where the text is.

Also, the preview window is 720x576, if that helps.

Could anyone help me please? I'm out of options.

The first thing that struck me when I looked at your images was that the first (before rendering) is a 4:3 image and yet you appear to be rendering to a 16:9 format - if you edit in 4:3 and then render at 16:9 then there is always going to be apparent movement.

Check the project properties of the project - (settings >> project properties) if it is 4:3 then change it to 16:9 and realign the images - then try another render.

I haven't rendered it yet, but it seems like that this solved the problem. I still have to realign everything because somehow the change of ratio messed up the placement of the clips.

Thank you, I'll write again if the render somehow messes up, but I hope it won't now.

Yes - as I already said changing aspect ratio on a multi-image project will change the apparent relation of the images - you must work in the same format all the way from the very beginning to the final output.
